GE Profile Opal 2.0 Nugget Ice Maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This lil ice maker from GE is incredible! It makes my Cocktail hours more enjoyable!! Love it!

Love this machine..works great! We are never without ice!

I am so happy I bought this ice maker. I did my research before buy. And I am glad I spent the money. It really helps me out a lot. The ice is always good, not half melted and helps me with my illness. I was a little hesitant because of price but, it was worth every penny. Thanks for making my life easier.

Overall this thing is awesome. Ice chunks are perfect size, they don’t melt too quickly and totally chewable. It makes ice quickly too. Expensive but I eat ice and was using like crushed ice from my fridge. The filter is a bonus. Ice tastes totally neutral.

I’m really enjoying my new ice maker. It makes ice fairly quickly and remains frozen for a good amount of time. its compact shape fits perfectly next to my fridge. The noise is minimal which is great for my dogs. My previous ice maker was too loud and would drive my animals crazy. Thanks GE for a great ice maker

So... Our journey with the ol' XPIO13SCSS had a very rough start. We set it up and it happily provided us with ice for the day. Then, seemingly in protest, it stopped. We added little Olaf and Vanilla Ice signs to give it some encouragement, but nothing would make it show up to work like the rest of us. Finally, we added some matching here/out of office signs to really make it part of the team. At that point, we also downloaded the app and hooked it up to the internet. We set a schedule just like the rest of us, it ran an update and smooth sailing. It makes ice while we're here and goes to sleep when we're not. It's much happier and drinks are much colder. So... Give it a schedule and it will be much happier, and so will you.

I've now purchased a second Opal within 4 years because we love the ice. However, I cannot express how thoroughly disappointed I am with the product as it continues to fail/extremely loud noise - including after routine meticulous cleaning and maintenance. I reached out to the GE Opal warranty department, provided all the necessary information, photos, and videos of the problem and all they do is continue to provide excuses to not replace under warranty, only providing 'cleaning tips.' STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT as inevitably it will FAIL - PLUS GE FINDS EXCUSES TO NOT REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY

I’m only giving it 3 stars because it worked great while it worked. We cleaned it regularly and made sure proper filters were installed. It only lasted us about 6 months before it fell apart from the inside out. I feel like it was put together by a 5 year old. I’m still trying to get a replacement but it’s difficult to get ahold of the right person. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that we didn’t just throw away several hundred dollars.

This is the second one of these ice makers I’ve purchased This one by far is extremely noisy the side panels rattle and the pump is so much louder Did we get a lemon this time?

This is the 5th Opal ice maker I’ve had. I love them! Just the perfect sized nugget ice.

We have had this a little over a year so it’s not able to be returned. It completely stopped working and will not fill back up with water after cleaning. This is way too expensive to stop working so soon.

I have two of these one in my home in Florida and one at my home in Utah. I will say the one in Utah works better because I use reverse osmosis water in it. My Florida home has water delivery so I use bottled water but it is not a clean as the RO water. I get more scale and have to clean and descale more often on the unit in Florida. Overall I love these ice makers and will always have one no matter where I live.

I love this ice maker. Makes ice quickly and quietly. Looks great on our counter and it helps when we have a lot of guests and needing ice quickly.

The product works well, but it was a bit difficult getting the wifi setup. Upon monitoring with a wi-fi analyzer, it did not show up on the list of active devices until several power resets. I wish the instructions were a bit more clear with regards to the cleaning instructions; as the cleaning and power LED's flash after the cycle is almost completed, then finally shuts off, but the instructions did not reflect this intermediate step. Also, the instructions should also reference cleaning the external water storage tank, as mold can form if not regularly cleaned. The use of softened and filtered water will considerably reduce the need to de-scale the product on a regular schedule, so it is highly recommended to use this type of water source(which also results in cleaner tasting ice). The noise generated is acceptable for a typical kitchen environment. The dual-intensity LED is a nice feature for use as a nightlight, and the WI-FI remote app can be helpful if you want to create ice from a remote location. One wish would be to have the ability to increase the size of the dispensed cubes, so that they would not dissolve as quickly when a beverage is added into the cup.

When we received our profile opal 2.0 it was very easy to assemble and to clean! The machine is very appealing with the way that it has been designed and the light is very helpful when we use it in the later hours of the day! The ice is perfect for chewing and for chilling drinks! We add the ice to our water bottles and it lasts for many hours. It makes ice quickly and quietly! We really like the machine and all of its abilities! Its size allows it to fit well in our kitchen and we have a large family and it is able to keep up with our use! GE did a wonderful job producing the machine!

This is my 3rd Nugget ice maker. My first one lasted about six years then cratered. I bought a new one, but it was making a really loud noise, so I had to send it back. Now I’ve got a new one. With the ease of just using filtered water or bottled water and not having to hook it up to a waterline, makes the icemaker Wonderful & easy to use… Just need a plug-in. Love love love the ‘like sonic’ ice. I’m spoiled now and hate to be without one.!!

This was a gift from my family. They spent a lot of money on this product and not worth it. It is great when it worked the one time. I had issues with it not making ice from the beginning. We cleaned it multiple times thinking there was something in the filter but it did not help. It would work for a short time and then not make ice at all. It only made a full container of ice once in the past year. Very disappointing for the cost of the product.

This was the 2nd one I have owned. The first one lasted for a few years. I'm so glad I bought the extended warranty. The next one I got from the warranty exchange didn't last 2 months.
