Q: How is the night vision?

submitted by Scooba - 6 years ago
  • A: Night vision feature is really good. Our baby is four months and we’ve had zero issues with it.

    submitted byOsu123 - 5 years ago
  • A: It’s great we tried other monitors but this one works the best. Would recommend.

    submitted byOsu123 - 5 years ago
  • A: Good until it quits working after 6 months.

submitted byBlaze - 4 years ago

Q: Can you link the video feed from this camera to an app on your phone?

submitted by Courtney h - 6 years ago
  • A: I have this product and I’m not aware of an app for the baby monitor.

    submitted byOsu123 - 5 years ago
  • A: no you cannot. it is a wifi free unit and only reports to the receiver

submitted bymsaunders - 2 years ago
  • A: Not that I know of. You should contact company to see

submitted byMrs - 6 years ago

Q: Is it true that when u register it you get a free extra camera??

submitted by Beth - 6 years ago
  • A: This should be a tell-tale sign that they are boosting reviews immediately after purchase because if you've owned it for longer than 6 months, its garbage.

submitted byBlaze - 4 years ago
  • A: I received one if I completed a review. It is super great having 2 once the baby started moving around in the crib

    submitted byEricka Z - 4 years ago
  • A: I received this from my registry, and I only got the one.

submitted byHoosierMama - 6 years ago

Q: Is this camera wireless?

submitted by vita - 3 years ago
  • A: No, the camera is not wireless, the monitor can be

submitted byMorgan - 2 years ago

  • A: Can I use it on the go for the car?

submitted byClaire - 3 years ago

Q: Does this monitor have sound? First-time, soon-to-be mommy here and worried that we won't be able to hear baby with this monitor. Thanks in advance for your help!

submitted by KristinaJ - 6 years ago
  • A: You can hear well. However, the microphone has a constant white noise sound you hear from the monitor side. It is way louder than your children and drowns them out. It's awful. I wish they would get a better speaker that only pics up your children! Huge flaw

submitted byMjheat - 3 years ago
  • A: Yes it has sound. You can hear everything with this monitor. It has several volume settings, but we just keep it on the highest setting. I can hear perfectly when our baby moves, etc. Its a good camera.

    submitted byOsu123 - 5 years ago

Q: Does this have a function where you can turn screen off and use it as an audio monitor?

submitted by swimlat - 6 years ago
  • A: Yes, there’s a button on top of the baby monitor to turn the screen off but keep the audio on. It saves about 50% of the battery.

    submitted byOsu123 - 5 years ago
  • A: They do have a sleep mode, you can short press the power on/off/sleep button to turn the LCD screen off while keeping the audio on.

submitted byPnymom - 6 years ago

Q: I am not sure what type of battery this includes, bought as a gift and want to take it on an airplane. Will I HAVE ANY PROBLEMS HAVING THIS IN MY BAG?

submitted by TERRI - 1 year ago
  • A: It's a rechargeable lithium ion battery. It's allowed to be carried with the passenger in carry-on baggage.

submitted by Caitlin - 1 year ago

Q: Does this monitor have the ability to be portable? I can’t get it to turn on without being plugged in. Thank you!

submitted by AN2468 - 2 years ago
  • A: A full charge can provide up to 6 hours screen on, or 10 hours standby. For tech support, please call the number on the back of your monitor unit.

Tip: KEEP YOUR RECEIPT! Theres a one year warranty and the customer service is nice but you need your receipt or confirmation number or proof of when and where it was bought from your registry. Pros: •It’s perfect for our tiny home •it’s night vision is super helpful •how much you can rotate it is neat Cons •The cable that attaches to the camera ripped after 9 months of use seems like it’s just too thin so it’s bound to rip. •it sometimes would say no signal even when just a few feet away •sucks that the camera needs to be plugged in to work

Useless Garbage

Heather11883 - 5 days ago
The screen is crazy small, it barely shows half of the crib even when the camera is very high up, and the screen is constantly shaking which is giving me a headache. The audio is terrible and the graphics for the menu look like they came straight out of the 80's. This shouldn't cost more than $15.

Because the DXR-8 Baby Monitoring system operates in a closed, non-wi-fi network, employs night vision, remote camera pan/tilt and offers 2-way talking through the camera and monitor, we decided to buy this reasonably priced monitoring system for our nursery. Although it is compact, the imaging and sound are excellent. We were pleasantly surprised that the optional zoom lens was not needed as the default unit works perfectly from across the room for us. After 6 months of heavy usage, our monitor froze on us one night so I emailed the support team before I went to bed. Surprisingly there was a response awaiting me the next morning. After trouble-shooting with support, they told me they'd send me a new monitor as soon as I showed evidence of mailing the unit in need of repair. Shortly after sending them pics of the envelope and tracking number from USPS I received confirmation of the new unit's expedited shipping, a tracking number and the unit arrived two days after! They definielty made us feel important. We love the monitor and can't speak highly enough about the support.

Excellent customer service! My original monitor wouldn’t turn on after about 3 weeks of use and I contacted customer service about the issue. They were very quick to respond and provide troubleshooting suggestions. When those didn’t work, they sent a replacement monitor and followed up to make sure everything was working appropriately. The unit itself is wonderful for our nursery. It provides visual and audible clarity and is easy to set up and manipulate. Would highly recommend.

Easy to set up and easy to use options. However, the battery just completely crapped out after less than a year and the sound cuts out constantly despite living in a pretty small space. We keep it because it’s one of the few options that don’t use Wi-Fi

There are some things I like about this monitor set: it’s non-wifi, the monitor is a nice setup overall… but the battery life is really quite poor, and more than anything, the signal will just stop working out of nowhere, as it sits on my bedside table. Super creepy and inconsistent.

Honestly its 2023 and there's no reason why the night vision is so blurry. I mean you can technically see but I'd prefer just setting up an indoor ring at this point

Poor quality, function and usability

AGibbs - 3 months ago
I have trialed three different baby monitor options to find one that was functional for our family. This one ended up at the bottom of my list. Cons: the video quality is sub par, there are many other options that allow for you to actually see your childs facial features in thr night and be able to see their chest rising and falling. If you have concerns about being able to see your child when they are sleeping on their stomach, I do not recommend this option. The system is very outdated and low quality, it reminds me of a camera that would have came with a 2000 computer. The main pro to this system is that is advertised is that it is less likely to be hacked, but again, there are many other brands (check out VTech) that have options that boast the same security. The menu function is very clunky and very difficult to navigate in the dark. Overall for the price, functionality, and usability, I highly recommend other options. I wanted to love this but was shocked at how poor the system is.

Easy set up and takedown for travel and easy to set up a second camera too. The night vision has a great picture for piece of mind while baby is sleeping at night. Great customer service, our monitor screen froze and they shipped us a new monitor as soon as we sent them the tracking number showing that the broken monitor had shipped back to them. The new monitor arrived in a day!

We loved this whole setup, but after just over a year, the power button stopped working on the monitor. It was past warranty, but they gave us half off a new monitor. Flash forward less than a year later and the new monitor has a failed power button. For how expensive the device is, I’d expect it to last past a year. Do not recommend purchasing this brand.

Worked great for about a year. Battery life has also been kinda crappy. Doesn’t last more than a few hours. Recently the sound just stopped working. It might work one hour and cuts out the next. Very annoying for a 200 dollar camera barely a year old
