I use this on my glass top and it works just fine - it will slide a bit but then again it's sitting on glass so anything that has a little oil will move around when cooking. If you look at all, the cast iron griddles Lodge offers This one is the least expensive. yet when you look at the dimensions gives you the most cooking space - ends up that handles on these things only get in the way, take up too much room And makes cleaning more problematic. I rarely use a frying pan anymore - I let it cool down after using before cleaning and just leave it on the stove. it looks great. truly one of those rare finds that only gets better over time and costs so little

Does not heat evenly. I had another before this one that worked much better. I expected this to be good because of the Lodge brand but it’s awful. Waste of money

Rust is your fault
People need to learn how to care for cast iron. You can use a little soap if you wish . Lodge website states that. You just need to thoroughly dry cast iron ! Or it will rust . Leave no water on it . Then rub with oil .

multi purpose cookware that can serve a few cooking roles while taking up a small amount of space
We have been struggling with stainless cookware creating mushy vegetables, and creating hard to clean messes; while actively avoiding nonstick cookware. Additionally, we wanted a flexible cooking tool - we don't have any 1-job cookware or gadgets in our kitchen. We looked at a few cast iron options, and landed on this griddle as a multi purpose cookware that can serve a few cooking roles while taking up a small amount of space. When we brought it home from Target (using a $10 off $20+ purchase coupon) we washed it, dried it, gave it a thin coat of vegetable oil, then warmed it up in the oven. In our first week having it, we have cooked on it on top of our gas range, on low after warming up: -Homemade Pupusas, cooking the cornmeal patties on the griddle getting them the perfect golden brown -Eggplant, peppers and onions followed by plant based chorizo. The flat surface made this cooking easy, creating crispy well seared veggies. The sides of the griddle are just high enough to keep the veggies under control, but not as tall as the sides of a skillet. -Beyond Sausage and Plant based egg. The sausage seared nicely, the plant based egg cooked well, but left a crust of egg residue that required scrubbing. The sides of the griddle worked for a thin layer of egg, but I will make smaller egg batches until we can get a skillet with taller sides. This is our toughest cleanup so far -2 Meals of quesadillas. The tortillas were crispy, and the griddle held up to our messy cooking style. We slop salsa and black beans onto the quesadillas and everywhere, with the griddle not breaking down in tears when some tomatoes got onto it as the internet warned us cast iron might. -Burgers and Peppers and Onions for a creative take on Sausage and Peppers. Peppers came out crisp and not mushy. It was great. We have only used the flat side of the griddle so far, not the "grilling" side. Cleanup is as straightforward as when we first got it home. We wash it, dry it, give it a thin coat of vegetable oil, then warm it up on the gas range. All in all, we are very happy with this griddle. Pros: The size is perfect for exactly 1/3 of our gas range; and we just store it on the range top. We came in expecting the low sides, and we haven't made any huge messes yet. We keep it on the side of our range with 2 large burners and the temperatures are pretty even across the griddle Cons: Our griddle moves slightly if you are getting aggressive with a spatula. I can see how a skillet with a handle slides less if you're holding the handle. Not the end of the world, we just slide it back. We went into this griddle wanting one tool for many jobs, so we are ok with this.

Lodge products have gone downhill
Lodge products have gone downhill. I have been using cast iron products since I was a kid. I know how to cook with them. I know how to season them. I know how to clean them. I also have lots of experience with large products, so I felt fairly confident in asking for this for Christmas, that it would be a very nice griddle. Everything sticks to it, and it is absolutely miserable to clean. I have never, in my entire life, had so much trouble getting a cast iron clean. We cooked steak on The Griddle side, and the leftover food product on the griddle was so hard, it almost felt like it was part of the cast iron itself. I scrubbed it and scrubbed it and scrubbed it, and finally had to break down and hit it with salt and boiling water to get rid of some of the crud that was baked on. Even that wasn't enough, and I ended up having to heat it on the stove and chisel the rest off with a butter knife. Never have I ever had to clean a cast iron like this. The flat griddle side is just as bad. I cooked bacon on it the other night, and it has discoloring all over it, no matter how much I scrub it or with what method. It just looks absolutely terrible. This pan came preseasoned, and I don't know if the preseasoning is awful, or what the deal is, but I have been very dissatisfied with it. I even tried to season it myself since it wasn't performing well, and even that wasn't enough. As others have said on here, it doesn't matter if you have experience with cast iron or not, this griddle is just not a good one. I'm hoping there are other brands of cast iron out there where I can find a superior product.

Wobbly
Mine came with an indented scratch on it, that wasn’t a big deal but it doesn’t lay flat on my burners when I have it on the grill side up, which was the whole reason for getting it. It wobbles like it has uneven table legs. I’ve tried everything, unfortunately the handles are a poor design. If I have it on the flat side up it’s totally fine but I won’t be needing that side as much. Was going to return but it’s just so dang heavy I didn’t feel like lugging to the store. So we will just keep it, just keep in mind it may not fit on your burners correctly

Dont waste your money.
Don’t purchase this! The meat sticks and even if you cook your food on low, the grill will burn. Your meal will have an after taste afterwards. It’s over priced and the quality is bad.

Good for the grill!
Great heavy duty cast iron griddle. We used it on the grill to do fish! Great addition to our kitchen. It is pretty heavy which makes storage a little more difficult.

Works Great if you Dry Correctly
Works quite well and it is versatile for cooking all sorts of meals. I read some reviews about people’s cast iron rusting and giving the product low stars… let me tell something: What you need to do is after you clean it with water, is that you have to put it on a burner or heat for about 1-4 minutes depending on heat source after to EVAPORATE the water. Then, you put your oil on it with an old rag or something similar (don’t burn yourself) to season it. I use avocado or coconut oil personally and it has been fine. It won’t rust. I have had cast iron for years. This method works every time. Store it in a place where there isn’t any moisture. I just keep mine on my stove because I use it often. Pretty easy. Hope that helps! P.S. Same drying method for enameled cast iron as well… like the enameled Lodge Dutch ovens or the Le Creuset brand.

Griddle
Put this on my Weber grill and it fit perfect. We were able to cook several smaller foods and was able to still use the other side of my grill.
