Medela Hands-Free Electric Breast Pump

IT LEAKS! The cups are such terrible quality I’m so upset for such an expensive product it’s devastating that the plastic cheap cups don’t even hold the milk in. Literally crying. I’m going to call the company to see if they can refund or replace the cups.

This pump broke easily. From trying to fit the pump into my pockets, bra with the breast cups, or in my waistband, the pump fell out a couple times and now it shuts off after 5 minutes and won't work unless it's plugged in at all times. They're selling a fanny pack as a storage solution for the pump. Why not make it completely hands-free? I can't care for my baby and pump at the same time because of how large and cumbersome the pump is.

Bought the freestyle flex a couple years ago, and the suction from the pump is fabulous! Drains well everytime, love that it hooks up to my phone to keep track of pump times. Really wish these "in bra" were available seperately for purchase!

I wanted to love this pump so bad but unfortunately I have a few gripes after using it for a few weeks now. First- the cups are milky and don’t help with visibility. I cannot tell if the nipple is positioned right in the shield or if the milk has begun to flow so I can change modes. This is a major hassle. Also, I have used the same pump with the hospital provided parts ( purchased my own tubes) and the expression works better with this than the hands free cups. I get more milk out with the flange setup than the cup setup. What I do like about the product is the ease of cleaning with only 3 parts. I just wish they can made the cups in clear plastic and better yet- a silicone shield. Another thing that can be improved is the display on the pump instrument. I wish there was a way to lock the settings. With the portability of this pump, you can expect to knock it around while you move and the settings get changed. Either the suction level gets knocked up or down or the stimulation / expression modes get changed. That’s annoying.

I’ve always used a medela pump but this time needed more flexibility because my job is based out of my car now. I LOVE this pump. It’s battery powered. Fits into any nursing bra. No pumping bra that squishes you four sizes smaller and hurts your back. No having to have my shirt off to connect. I can slide it under anything loose. It works sitting up instead of leaning forward slightly. And I can drive while pumping effortlessly! Only three pump components to clean which is easier than other wall based pumps and hands free pumps.

This pump is amazing! I am a first time mom to a two month old and this pump has helped me find some sort of a balance in this very new world. It not only has allowed me to get the rest I need by letting my husband help with some of the feedings. But it had also come in handy with our busy lifestyle, you really can use this pump anywhere. It’s super easy to clean and store. I l highly recommend it!! It’s so easy to set up and use, it’s not to overwhelming at all especially for the first time moms out there!

I’ve only had this pump for two months and it stopped working. I charged it accordingly and it shows a full charge and shuts off during use. The suction is subpar as well.

I love this pump! I get as much milk as I did using my Spectra pump. Worth it!

I purchased this pump after doing a lot of research for a portable/ wearable pump that would suit out pumping needs. The pump overall is great. I choose this pump because the pump can hook up to both kinds of collection cups. I liked that it could be used as a back up house pump if needed. Pros: there are only 3 pieces to clean and they are easy pieces to clean too! The charge on the pump lasts for a while. I get about 2-3 hours of pumping per charge. The suction is great also. Cons: the collection cups say they hold 5 ozs, however I would say 4 ozs is more like it. After it fills above 3 ozs, it is easier for the milk to slosh around when moving and leak out of the top. It's not a lot when it happens but I can tell that it had leaked when I am done with my session. This issue could easily be fixed by adding a plug to the drain on top. Cost. I feel that the price is slightly high. Overall I am happy with my purchase and would make the same decision to purchase this pump if I had to!

I went ahead and splurged with a medela because I loved this brand was so disappointed when my first one broke down. It stopped charging and would not turn on at all. Bought another one but this one keeps getting milk on on the top part of the flanges and the milk backs up to the tubing. Ive been able to catch it before it goes down the machine but it is a hassle to stop pumping to get it sorted again. i am afraid i wont catch it next time and it will back up all the way to the machine.

I purchased the hands free pump when it first launched and it has been amazing since day one! I have no issues whatsoever, very comfortable, reliable and assembly is super easy. I mainly purchased this pump to have an alternative for when I returned to work besides my “pump in style”. However, I find myself using the hands free more. Sometimes I forget I have it on. Suction is perfect, cups are realistic and strong. You can’t go wrong with this hands free pump.

Prior to using this pump, I dreaded the logistics of pumping: setting up the parts and pieces, having to get a pumping bra on, cleaning all the various pieces afterwards, etc. Ever since switching to the Freestyle Hands-Free, I no longer have the mental block and save myself a good 10min per pumping session. Cleaning: it’s only 3 parts vs. the usual 5-8 parts to clean! So easy to take down and set back up and soooo lightweight! Easy to pop in your bra: I no longer have to wear a specific pumping bra and can just pop the collection cups into whatever bra/tank top I'm wearing. Multitask: I frequently pump while on the Peloton, cooking lunch, leading a work call, etc. It’s quiet enough that people don’t hear it and discreet enough that my husband is often surprised to learn I’m pumping. It also only has one hole (for pouring milk out) and unless you go completely upside down, it won’t spill a drop! I thought that I would get annoyed by the pump tubing aspect but honestly I just tuck the pump into my waistband or wear it on my wrist and it doesn’t bother me. I’ve considered a full in-bra motor pump but knowing that those are usually around 8 parts to clean and assemble, definitely cannot imagine going back to that!!

This pump is one of the best I've had. It's very convenient and discreet. However, after not even a month it has stopped working. In the middle of pumping it just cut off. Then i make sure it's completely and now it will not turn on. As soon as I press the play button it cuts off. Nonetheless I loved this pump when it was working

I was very excited to test it out as I had seen other similar products advertised via social media. This pump did not disappoint. It lived up to the Medela brand name. I gave it a four star rating. It was easy to use, easy to clean and charged very quickly. The ability to move around freely and not necessarily need a special pumping bra is much appreciated. My only concern was the collection amount. Changing the collection bottle would be difficult if you were a heavy milk producer.

It has allowed me to go about my life freely while being discreet enough to pump on the go. My previous pump, although satisfactory, was quite bulky and cumbersome. It made pumping in public or even at my parent's home while visiting almost impossible. With this pump, I have been able to pump while at work, painting my new home office, shopping and running errands, and during my oldest child's basketball game. I can truly be on the go, and if I felt it was obvious at any point, I could throw on a cardigan or sweater, and it would lessen it. The suction levels were also ideal and enabled me to extract as much breast milk as possible. The pump was intuitive to understand and use, and I could not turn back around now. I love this pump's versatility and the freedom it has given me.

It has given me the ability to multitask with my other children, cook meals, wash dishes, do bookwork and I even gave my husband a neck massage while pumping! In the past I’ve been tied to the wall and hated pumping with a passion. This has given me a new light and is helping me transition our baby to bottles and using breastmilk vs formula as it’s easier/compatible with my lifestyle. The battery also lasted a long time! 3-4 pumping sessions! Cons: would have been nice for the the actual pump to have a small strap to go around your waist for true hands free. I usually had to shove it in my Jean pocket and that didn’t fit in there overly well. I also expected the suction to be a bit better. I find I had more milk when I was using your traditional corded to the wall pump. Because the suction wasn’t 100% I found the odd time if I bumped it a bit too much I would have to reattach the pump.

I loved this thing, I was so excited to have a portable and wearable pump! It worked great for several weeks, then suddenly I saw a noticeable drop in my production. I figured it was "that time of the month" and kept my pumping regimen. However, I was at home and unable to nurse one day and used my Spectra pump and pumped twice as much in 5 minutes than it took in 15 minutes with the Freestyle. Also, I cannot find any replacement parts or extra cups (would be handy to have a set at home and a set at work).

I was given this breast pump to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. As a mother of three who has always pumped and breastfed, I would rate this pump highly on my list of pumps for a few different reasons. Firstly, it offers and efficient and quick pump, with the flexibility to double or single pump depending on your personal situation, to that end, I have never been able to efficiently nurse and pump at the same time, this pump allowed me to do so, without worry that my baby would kick it out of place or shift the pump. I attribute this to the pumps sleek and discrete size. Additionally, I love how easy the pump is to use and clean, this is a time saver and makes for easy use when travelling away from home. Lastly, this pump allowed me to complete a few more activities than usual while pumping; folding laundry, doing dishes are some of the examples. One of the things I wish the product could have allowed was for bending motions so I could clean up, due to the spout at the top of the pumps, it is risky to do any task that involves bending because you then risk having the pumped milk spill. I also wish that the string on the pump motor itself was longer, this would allow for a true handsfree experience because you’d then be able to wear the pump motor around your neck, as opposed to carrying it to each location with you by hand. Lastly, as I was first learning to use the pump I was trying to make sure that it was place correctly on my nipples and due to the fogged colour and design it was a bit hard to see, I would suggest making the breast cups completely clear in colour. Overall, I am very satisfied with the pump, it’s long lasting battery and ease of use, I have been using it over my other pumps since I’ve received it.
