Q: What if I need a different size of flanges?

submitted by Lily - 2 months ago
  • A: Currently, the product is not offered with breast flange inserts, although they may be available in the future. Should you have questions about fit, consult your doctor or a medical professional. (We have complementary IBCLC consults). As with any breast pump, stop use if abnormal pain, discomfort, or swelling occurs and consult a medical professional should the problem persist. For those who prefer, commercially available flange inserts can be used with the Spectra wearable. These include Nuliie, sold on Amazon. When selecting an insert, we recommend a silicone construction that is free from sharp edges or other defects. Vacuum levels should not be decreased with an insert. If this happens, please consider an alternate.

Q: How does the pump strength and milk output compare to regular spectra pump?

submitted by JennyLynn - 2 months ago
  • A: Great question! The Spectra® Wearable is designed with powerful hospital-strength suction up to 280mmHg, and many parents find the output comparable to our traditional Spectra pumps, like the S1 or S2. That said, milk output can vary depending on fit, flange size, and your body’s response to the pump. For best results, we recommend checking that you’re using the correct flange size and ensuring a proper seal. Our customer care team is always happy to help with personalized support!

This pump is obnoxiously loud and poorly performs. The programming is outdated and doesn’t resemble other spectra pumps. The containers easily fall off when removing from your bra due to the most cheaply made design that doesn’t include grooves for screwing in. In 7 pump sessions, the best this pump could do was 2oz a session (I usually make 6-8oz a session). Given all the opportunity spectra had to improve this pump after years of poor reviews in other countries, I can only assume this is a money grab and praying on moms who have come to love spectra products. DO NOT BUY.

Terrible, save your $$! Terrible design, terrible flanges, terrible suction. Pop on collection cups come off easily in bra when pumping leading to spilled precious milk. Will ruin your supply if using this to pump. Won’t empty you. What a waste of $$$$!! So disappointed Spectra!!

I really liked this pump it’s just very loud and I had it for over a month and it recently started leaking on one side and it’s just too expensive to have problems already I will be returning. Really disappointed because I rlly liked how good it was at emptying me out:(
1 reply from Spectra Product Expert team - 11 days ago
Hi Kt, - Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience with the Spectra® Premier Wearable took a turn—especially after it was working well for you at first. We know how frustrating it is to deal with leaks, especially given the cost and your trust in the product. Leaking can sometimes be caused by the O-ring inside the collection cup shifting or wearing down, and your pump includes replacements for this reason. We also recommend making sure all parts are fully dry before assembly, as moisture can prevent a secure seal. If you're open to it, we’d love the chance to troubleshoot and help make it right. Please reach out to our Customer Care team at 1-855-405-0993. We’re here to support you.

I absolutely love spectra but kind of disappointed in the portable pumps. Suction and ease of use is 5 starts but due to how loud they are (makes them not so discreet) and how hard they are to clean they are getting a three star rating.

Very good but with one major flaw

4 out of 5 stars
Heather - 15 days ago, Verified purchaser
This is the only wearable that I’ve been able to get the same amount out as with my plug in spectra pump. I think because my nipples are very elastic so the deeper flange works great for me. It is a little loud compared to the Elvie stride I used to have but I personally don’t care about that. The major flaw though is the charging! You CANNOT use a typical usb c charger with this pump or it will blow the battery. You have to use the charger the kit comes with. But there’s only one, so you can’t charge them at the same time! It’s a huge flaw because if it get plugged into any charger but the one it comes with it will kill the battery and you’re now out of $250!!! This needs to be fixed by the company otherwise they’re going to be getting a LOT of returns/replacements.

Do not buy - 15 days ago, Verified purchaser
This is not a beginner friendly breast pump. I've been exclusively pumping for thr past 6 years and these pumps suck! The capacity is only 4 ounces max, its almost impossible to piur out the milk from the cups without ot spilling everywherr and the biggest problem is that you can't keep the cups hooked to the flanges. The O ring on the cups is the only way the flanges adhere to the cups and that doesn't work.
1 reply from Spectra Product Expert team - 15 days ago
The O-ring on the collection cup is critical to keeping the flange securely connected. The pump comes with replacement O-rings, and we recommend ensuring all parts are completely dry before assembly to maintain a secure fit. If you're open to it, our Customer Care team would be happy to help troubleshoot or walk you through setup tips to improve your experience. Please give us a call at 1-855-405-0993—we’re here to support you however we can.

The 1 star is for the output. The pumps are heavy and extremely noisy. They also move around so much and it’s hard to do anything. You still have to sit still because the weight of the pump makes the shift if you move.

Paige - 21 days ago, Verified purchaser
I wanted to like these but my biggest hang up is the design. They help me collect just about as much as my regular spectra but they’re extremely loud. Also the cup itself pops off extremely easy leading to spilled milk and twice now I’ve gone to pump with them and the collection cup won’t even attach. They give you replacement silicone rings and this helped me last thing this error occurred but this should not be happening twice within 1 month of having these pumps that are only used 1-2 times daily.
1 reply from Spectra Product Expert team - 20 days ago
Hi Paige - Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We’re really sorry to hear about the frustration you've had—especially with the noise and the collection cups coming loose. We completely understand how upsetting spilled milk and repeat issues can be, especially when you’re relying on your pump day to day. It sounds like you did the right thing by replacing the silicone O-rings—those can affect how securely the cups stay attached. To help prevent this from happening again, we also recommend making sure all parts are completely dry before assembly, as even small amounts of moisture can interfere with the seal. If you're still running into issues, our Customer Care team would be happy to troubleshoot with you or send additional replacements if needed. Please reach out to us directly—we truly want your Spectra experience to be a better one.

Good output, much louder than other hands free pumps. After a few uses the bottles won’t stay attached. They leak and open mid pump causing milk to spill.
1 reply from Spectra Product Expert team - 20 days ago
Hi DK - Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re so sorry to hear about the leaking and bottle issues—spilled milk is incredibly frustrating, and we understand your disappointment. To help prevent this, we recommend making sure all parts are completely dry before assembly, as moisture can affect the seal and cause bottles to detach. Also, please inspect the O-rings on the wearable bottle; if they’re not seated properly or need replacing, it can lead to leaks. The pump includes replacement O-rings in case. If you need help checking the setup or replacing parts, please reach out directly to our Customer Care team—we’re here to help and want to make sure your pump works as it should!

Sarah - 26 days ago, Verified purchaser
The pump itself works great, however I’ve had it for a week and it melted while sterilizing. I reached out to Spectra’s customer support and they declined to replace it due to user error. This is after I even offered to buy the replacement I needed, which is just the collection cup. The whole purpose of the pump. Customer support stated that they don’t offer the wearable cups for sale, I can only get them at Target. This is extremely disappointing considering this pump is $250. I’m not spending another $250 after I’ve had it for a week, and I only need a single part. And why make a pump and sell it for that much money, when you can’t purchase replacement parts? That’s ridiculous. As an exclusive pumper, this is incredibly disheartening. I had to go all day pumping milk, and dumping it because of the chemicals exposed to the milk due to the melted plastic. As “fellow moms who understand a mother’s journey” (as stated on Spectra’s website), it sure doesn’t seem like you truly understand. And maybe you do, and just don’t care. Oddly enough, I mentioned my mistake to my sister in law - who ordered the same pump and had it delivered to her - and some of her pump pieces melted in the mail before she even opened the box. For $250, you would think the quality of the pump parts would be better.

So happy with these pumps. I have been “just an enougher/ borderline under supplier”. I have struggled to find any wearable pumps that even give me a drop of milk. My go to has been the spectra s1 and even then would get most 2 ounces combined. With these pumps I’m getting even more than with the s1. The suctions is great, the pumps are comfortable. I did need to change flange sizes. The pumps are larger than most wearable pumps and they only hold 4 oz in each side which for me is not an issue. They are extremely loud pumps so if you are looking for discretion, these pumps might not be for you.

Listen, the milk output was not bad. That is what the two stars are for. They were effective. But I bought these specifically for work, and they sound like a freaking goose- LOUD and ridiculous, and they have LIGHTS on top of them that shine through your shirt. These are the opposite of discreet, and they are non returnable. Do not buy these. The milk container part also pops off super easily and dumped 5oz of milk on me just sliding one out of my bra. I am so disappointed in these.
1 reply from Spectra Product Expert team - 20 days ago
Hi CC - The noise level and light visibility are things we’re actively working to improve in future updates, and we appreciate your honest feedback. As for the milk container detaching, that’s definitely not the experience we want any parent to have. We recommend ensuring all components are completely dry before assembly and checking the O-rings on the milk container —these can loosen over time but are replaceable, and your pump should have included extras. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Customer Care team directly. We’d love the chance to make things right and help troubleshoot any fit or performance concerns you’re still experiencing.

MRM - 1 month ago
I love Spectra. I had the S1 for the last two pregnancies. I've also had the dual compact and the S9 so I'm no stranger to what Spectra offers. This, however, is a bit of a miss. While I get pretty solid output - only slightly less than my non-wearable - it's SO loud. There's zero way to be discreet with this one. I do wish the suction went a bit higher but I like the third setting on expression mode (it's a pull, hold and pull more type suction, which is not an option on the other Spectra pumps I've used. I feel like it's functional and easy to use, despite the fact that you can't control the hubs through an app (preferred for me) and pretty easy to clean since there aren't too many parts. I also don't have a problem with the battery life, but if quiet is what you're looking for, this definitely isn't the pump for you.
1 reply from Spectra Product Expert team - 18 days ago
Hi MRM - Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review! We're honored you've been a long-time Spectra user and appreciate you giving the Premier Wearable a try. We're glad to hear you're getting solid output and enjoying the third expression mode setting—it’s great to know that feature stood out to you. We completely understand your feedback about the noise level and lack of app control. While this pump was designed for simplicity and power, we know discretion is a big deal, especially for on-the-go use, and we’re actively listening to feedback like yours as we look at future improvements. Thanks again for being part of the Spectra community—we truly value your insight and support!

I was stuck between a few pumps and chose this one based on Spectra's glowing reputation with their traditional pumps. This is a great option for anyone who has elastic nipples, as the flanges are plastic and the tunnels are longer. I seem to have great output with these as well. They are a bit larger than most wearables, but their shape looks more natural when in use, so they don't appear comically large or unnatural. The only con is that they are quite loud, but I believe that is due to the design, which makes them more effective than other wearables!
1 reply from Spectra Product Expert team - 18 days ago
Hi Anya - Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review! We’re thrilled to hear the Spectra® Premier Wearable has been a great fit for you—especially in supporting comfort and output for elastic nipples. That’s exactly the kind of feedback we love to hear. We appreciate you pointing out the noise and size trade-offs, and we’re glad the shape and performance have made a positive impact. Your insights are incredibly helpful for other parents considering their options, and we’re so grateful you chose to trust Spectra again. Wishing you continued success on your pumping journey!

I've searched high and low for a wearable pump that empties me like a wall pump or at least close to it. The motors, suction, and expression/stimulation modes are amazing. They mimic a spectra and natural feeding patterns that I haven't seen on another wearable. They are loud, don't have some of the newer technology like a timer on screen or app, but I absolutely love them! It's so nice to have a dependable hands free pump I don't have to worry about tanking my supply or causing me to get engorged. Can just use it while driving around taking care of baby and not have my hands tied up without having to check to make sure it's working properly. Just be careful when sterilizing parts as i believe they warp easily. This pump is Definitely worth it for me!

I just received mine in the mail yesterday. Here are the cons IMO: -they are NOT discrete, they’re louder than any other wearable I’ve tried. I wouldn’t take these to a movie theatre. I Don’t recommend wearing them if you’re on an important phone call. That’s how loud they are. -they don’t come with a dual charger, so you have to wait for one to fully charge. -They do not have a little timer window display like other wearables have. -The collection cups aren’t accurate, it says 4 OZ, but when I pour that exact milk into another spectra pump bottle, it’s 1 ounce less than what the collection cup reads. -the plastic feels a little cheap, for the price , expected sturdier. -they only come with the 24m flange, and no option to buy any other size. Here are my pros: -They get the job done, I just need to figure out the setting on these. -They empty me out, for the most part. - They automatically shut off after 30 minutes. -The suction is amazingly strong. -they have a long battery life.
