Q: Why does this product contain metal? I just dragged a magnet across the oats, and shards followed.

submitted by VMul - 11 months ago
  • A: It is iron, hence “iron fortified”

submitted bySam - 10 months ago
  • A: Hi VMul! Thank you for your interest in our Earth's Best products. Heavy metals are present in the soil, air, and water, and trace amounts are absorbed by the simple ingredients used to make food products, including fruits, vegetables, and grains. Our stringent testing practices include the evaluation of raw ingredients used to manufacture Earth’s Best products prior to use for heavy metals content, pesticide residues, and potential contaminants, and our internal testing procedures are continuously refined. We also test Earth’s Best finished products. Our products comply with all food safety regulations, and we continue to support efforts to reduce trace levels of heavy metals as aligned to FDA’s Closer to Zero initiative. We hope this helps!

Q: Is this cereal gluten free? If not can you recommend any gluten free cereals from Earth's best.

submitted by Helen - 7 years ago
  • A: Helen, I was concerned about that as well. It's healthier, safer and easier to just get Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Organic Steel Cut Oats and grind them yourself real quick in a food processor. Steel Cut Oats are much healthier and easier for babies to digest as well. They are milled from the highest quality farm-fresh organic oats in the world. Each batch is handled with care in the dedicated gluten free facility and tested in the state-of-the-art laboratory to ensure the strict gluten free quality standards are met. You can find them online at VitaCost. Take care! :)

  • A: Hi Helen, thanks for reaching out! The Hain Celestial Group’s labeling declares major allergens (peanuts, soybeans, milk, eggs, fish, crustaceans, tree nuts, and wheat) and we follow the U.S. FDA’s regulations. We recognize the serious nature of the allergen issue and we strive to minimize risk. Both major and minor ingredients of all products, as well as all processing procedures and equipment, are closely scrutinized and all potential allergen issues are declared on our labeling. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions please call us at 1-800-442-4221 Monday - Friday 9 AM - 7 PM EST.

Q: - i-------------- its recommended not to have sugar for baby if they are below 1 year old, but when I looked over the label -- it says 1 gram of sugar added. Is sugar added?

submitted by bee - 2 months ago
  • A: Hi Bee! Thanks for reaching out to us. There is no sugar added to our Earth's Best® Organic Whole Grain Oatmeal Cereal. The alpha amylase (enzyme) ingredient helps break down carbohydrates into simple sugars giving it an inherently sweet taste.

Q: Why are the following added to the cereal and what are they? alpha amylase (enzyme), tocopherols (vitamin e), electrolytic iron

submitted by LR - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi LR! The alpha amylase (enzyme) ingredient in Earth’s Best® Cereal may help babies easily digest the cereal. The alpha amylase in our Earth’s Best® Cereal is derived from microbial sources. Vitamin E tocopherol is added as a source of Vitamin E. Additionally, it may contribute to keeping our cereals tasting fresh during shelf life. We fortify our cereals with iron because it is so crucial to early development for our little ones. We hope this helps!

Q: Which countries / states is your oatmeal sourced from?

submitted by babeotter - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi Babeotter, thank you for reaching out. The Hain Celestial Group purchases ingredients based on requirements designed to meet rigid specifications, food safety, and compliance with applicable regulations and certifications. We work with known suppliers who assure the quality and safety of their ingredients which are supported by signed affidavits, certificates of analysis, and analytical testing. Additionally, many of our food products receive independent certification from organic and kosher certification third parties.   Although ingredients are predominantly sourced domestically, it is sometimes necessary to source globally. This is due to the fact that some ingredients are not available domestically or the domestic sources are limited based on market demand.

Earth’s Best Organic Whole Grain Oatmeal Cereal is a solid choice for introducing your baby to solids. The texture is fine and smooth once mixed, making it easy for little ones to swallow, and it’s gentle on sensitive tummies. Taste-wise, it’s mild and slightly nutty — no added sugars, so you can mix it with breast milk, formula, or fruit purée for more flavor. Nutrition is a strong point here: it’s iron-fortified, which is important for babies’ development, and made from organic whole-grain oats with no artificial ingredients. Packaging is sturdy, seals well to keep the cereal fresh, and has clear preparation instructions. Overall, it feels like a safe, healthy, and convenient option for early feeding

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out to us. Please be aware all children develop at different paces; therefore, we recommend consulting with your child's pediatrician to determine what product is suitable for their diet. We always recommend parents consider the advice of their healthcare providers as their primary source of information regarding their baby's well-being. We continue to take pride in offering Earth's Best and hope you will visit our website often for new information and updates.

I gave this oatmeal cereal to my 4-month-old as his very first solid, and it made him violently ill. He was vomiting non-stop and broke out in full-body hives. It was terrifying. After doing some research, I found many other parents reporting the same symptoms—and there’s even a lawsuit against Earth’s Best for this exact product. I am absolutely appalled that this is still on the market. Babies are suffering, and parents deserve to know. I’m leaving this review on every site I can to help spread the word. Please do not feed this to your baby. This product needs to be pulled immediately. SHAME on this company for putting profits over the health and safety of infants.

Hi, my packaging says 1g of added sugar for this oatmeal cereal. I don't give my baby added sugars, so I'm concerned and confused. When I gave my first baby this product, it had 0g of added sugar, so I bought it again and just noticed the label had changed. I don't see sugar listed in the ingredients though. The added sugar is 1 gram as is the total. As you know, if the sugar comes from the oatmeal, then it's not added, but if you add sugar, then it is. Can you please let me know if this is an error in the label? Bottom line, does organic Earth's Best Whole Grain Oatmeal Cereal have added sugar? Thank you for clarifying
