Why, when I only print in black, does my printer use so much color ink?

Printer worked fine until I got new cartridges then even replacing them 2x the printer would not recognize them. I've had HP for decades and they've all been designed to fail. After spending countless years and an obscene amount of money, I'm done. I refuse to contribute one more cent of my hard earned money on your inferior products and customer service LOL don't even get me started.

Easy to use, vivid colors

Excellent product. HP is a quality brand and good product overall. Have had HP for years and years.

The ink works fine, as it should for the exorbitant price. But HP's practice of installing a chip that invokes an expiration date regardless of ink level is maddening. I don't print many pages per year and was just forced to discard "expired" cartridges that still had plenty of ink.

I have been using HP printers for over 40 years, starting with laser printers and moving to ink jet printers for the last 25 years. I always felt the pricing of toner was appropriate for the amount of printing generated. However, ink for all the inkjet printers that I have used has been a horribly priced product. Not only that, with cartridges having a dated shelf life, and software encoding that prohibits using compatible ink cartridges, I have decided that it is time to change brands. HP printer are priced appropriately, in my opinion. However their price for ink is outrageous. I don't mind paying a reasonable amount for supplies, but HP is pricing itself out of the market. HP doesn't allow refilling of cartridges, and will not supply a more cost effective refill for its own cartridges. Another irritating "feature" is the fact that without serviceable cartridges, the printer, scanner, copier - all of it is just dead weight on my desktop. Too much to tolerate any further.

Extremely upset with HP's lock-out of 3rd party cartridges. Products are excellent; policy is terrible.

For awhile I stopped buying ink for all my HP printers because the website was not working. Someone decided to fix the problems and now you can order ink cartridges EASY AND FAST. Thank you. I am glad to be back
