Disappointed
This pencil sharpener is sturdy, that is the only positive remark. I’m actually very disappointed with this sharpener considering I purposely chose this one, believing it would be a high quality sharpener for my students. ALMOST EVERY pencil that I sharpened would break. This happened nearly every time my students would write. (I tried several different brands of pencils-same issue)

Highly disappointed
I have had very good luck with X-Acto classroom pencil sharpeners in the past. They have always lasted me at least a few years. I bought this model and began using it at the end of August of 2023. It’s now January of 2024 and it’s dead. This sharpener was only used by myself and the paraprofessional in my classroom so it was treated gently and nothing outside of pencils were sharpened. I absolutely would not recommend.

Great for the Classroom but....
I bought this for my middle school classroom and it was great, until a couple of weeks ago when I had some students come in and sharpen their pencils all of sudden the sharpener was just constantly running and upon reading some how-tos on Google there must be something stuck in the housing unit that is forcing it to stay constantly running. So until this issue is resolved the review stays at what it is at a 3. Great value for the classroom as I needed something heavy duty, but with the constant running issue, it has become quite a bit of an issue more than help.

However, after about 2 weeks the sharpen stopped shutting off and the only way to get it to not sharpen and make noises is to pull the plastic tray out. Fast, clean and sharp.
Excellent pencil sharpener. Works very quickly and efortlessly. The finish on the wood of the pencil is very smooth when It is done. It auto-stops advancing the pencil when the tip is sharp. I highly recommend, especially if you have kids in school and have homework they required to be done in pencil.

Would Not Recommend
I got this for my 11 year old daughter because she loves to make fun crafts. When she was sharpening her pencils the light turned off then she took out her colored pencil and it was broken on the tip and the tip of the colored pencil was stuck in the machine.

Broke within the first 20 pencils. Still works but won’t stop running in between pencils and I have to tape the shavings drawer closed because it slides out.

A monster of a sharpener!
Holy Cow this is a monstrous pencil sharpener! First of all it’s HUGE! It’s twice as big as our generic/office supply store pencil sharpener. It looks like it ate it for a snack, as my kids said. Using it compared to our first one is so smooth. No loud grinding noise and no uneven sharpening. My kids hated to use our first one due to the amount of noise it made and how one side of the pencil would just show wood, no lead. The x-acto Teacher Pro electric pencil sharpener sharpens evenly, quickly and rather softer in sound. It’s not quiet but definitely more pleasant than our other one. Worth the extra money!

Check the dimensions before buying. This is 4 times larger than I thought it would be. I bought it for sharpening colored pencils. So far it seems to sharpen them with very long points, but it works. We'll see how long it lasts.

Broke several times. Had to keep contacting the company for a replacement… pretty sad when the label says it’s meant for classroom use and it breaks not even halfway into the year. Then my replacement one broke too!

Good When it Works
I bought this pencil sharpener in August (right before the school year started), but it unfortunately didn't make it even one whole entire school year. I tried trouble shooting with videos found on YouTube and still can't get it to consistently stay working. I loved it when it worked :(
