This speaker is fantastic. I have an apartment and it sounds AMAZING. I truly advise you to get this speaker. It’s advanced with all the tech you need. Alexa and google work amazing with WiFi or without. So happy for this purchase.

Big, Bigger, Biggest
Very Powerful, perhaps not thought through fully in that respect, I had to create an isolation platform to control the Bass. It is very dependent upon room acoustics, but when it works, I swear to you the Stones are in the House, I have never heard anything like one in my life. But I still prefer the Authentics 300 because of it's Grace... Satchmo on that is beautiful. Overall the 500 is a grenade of a thing, exploding all over the room(s). Oh well back to the Kinks

Outstanding purchase
I did a lot of research on my first 'proper' speaker for my home, and landed on the JBL Authentics. This device works well with my Spotify streaming service on WiFi or over Bluetooth. The sound quality is AMAZING and I highly recommend for the price point! It can also be used with a portable battery for tailgating :)

Classic sound and multi-connection options
Classic sound and multiple connection options with the WiFi gets you additional footage away from the JBL Authentic 500 versus Bluetooth. The sound is powerful and fills a large space with great tones. The JBL One app helps pair other WiFi or BT with the speaker. I added my JBL Extreme 4 to it and then later I added a Roku Sound bar with ease.

Buyer Beware
After using this speaker for two weeks I am sad to report that this product is subpar. The stereo separation is non-existant, the bass is much less than expected, and the sound overall is flat and is comparable to a speaker costing in the $150 to $200 range. Furthermore, reliability is horrible as this prioduct shuts down at random times. The only positive is that setup was very easy. There are great choices in this price range--Klpisch, Bang and Olufsen, Sonos, Bowers and Wilkins etc. Save your money and do not buy this JBL product.

Cool stuff
Really happy with the quality and the look of the speaker. Think the problems people have are usually software related. Downloading the JBL app was easy and works well. However, obviously you're linking your speaker to your phone and Google account as well.. And the Google Voice assist does need tweaking and often the speaker plays the wrong music when asked to .. But I think this is just a case of how you you say it. Maybe artist first then song after seems to work better.. ..

Great speaker with good sound
I love this JBL 500 cause it is a superb speaker that delivers impressive sound quality in our big integrated kitchen/dining. With a nice design and easy-to-use controls, it is perfect for our listening to music. The speaker offers a rich and clear sound that is great for our every day use. However, one downside to the JBL is the base sounds. Should be stronger although considering the size, they are enough for our needs.

Loud and clear sound quality
I have this speaker for quite some time now. It has wonderful quality sound. Treble and bass easy to tune and use. The knobs are turnable in very soft way. Whole speaker is sturdy and fits well in interior. I really liked that authentic vintage look. Leather all over the speaker makes it look expensive and well made. One thing disappointing is that it is not wireless and not chargeable. I just expected it too be wireless without checking, butnit has to be connected to the power at all times. Other than that is good quality item with perfect, loud and clear sound quality.

Fantastic Product, sound and great design.
From the moment I received my JBL Authentics 500 speaker, I knew I was in for something special. The packaging was impeccable—carefully boxed to ensure that the speaker arrived in perfect condition. Setting it up was an absolute breeze; within minutes, I had it up and running without any hassle. But the real magic happened when I played music for the first time. I was blown away by the sound quality. It felt like I was at a live concert, with the band performing right in front of me. Every sound, from the subtle background notes to the powerful bass, was crystal clear. The clarity is truly exceptional—you can hear every single detail with stunning precision. Connecting the speaker to my devices was incredibly easy, making the whole experience even more seamless. Plus, the built-in Alexa is a fantastic bonus! It adds convenience and functionality that I didn't even realize I needed. For the quality and features it offers, the JBL Authentics 500 is fantastic value for money. I would fully recommend this speaker to anyone looking to elevate their audio experience. It’s a game-changer!

Very nice and clear sound
JBL Authentics 500 is a speaker that I really needed in my life. Jbl has always been a brand that I have always liked, and that is because of the quality of the sound. My first ever JBL product was a clock radio with a small round speaker that was working perfectly. For me the sound it's really important when choosing a speaker, and the overall features. When I first unpacked the JBL Authentics 500 I was very impressed: the design is quite simple however so elegant and on point. The sound is amazing and the base is exactly what I was expecting to be. The speaker it's indeed a bit heavier than I was expecting, but if you wish to place it in one place only, it won't bother you at all. I like the colour and the actual speaker's design. You can easily use it as the main speaker in your house, and you can even throw a party just by having the speaker. Overall I really like it, and would recommend it.

A Concert Experience at Home
As a mom of two, I’m thrilled wth the JBL Authentics 500. After my husband bought the first one a few weeks ago, we were so impressed that we got a second. Pairing them in stereo mode feels like having a live concert—the 360-degree sound fills any space beautifully with rich, clear audio. The speaker also shines with its built-in Chromecast and AirPlay 2, making streaming from any device effortless. The multi-room audio feature is fantastic for playing music throughout the house, and the USB-C port is a handy addition for charging our devices. Overall, it combines style and functionality, making it a perfect fit for our family's needs.

Great sounding good looking speaker
This is a great sounding speaker, all the bass you could possibly want, and loud, really loud. I haven't been able to test just how loud for fear of upsetting the neighbours. It is a bit different from most Bluetooth speakers though, it's definitely designed to sit in one place. There's no battery in it, so has to be plugged into the mains when used, and the bass speaker on the bottom doesn't have a grill on it, so you do have to be careful if you do move it. One of the things I really liked on this (and my other JBL speaker, but didn't realise it until I got this one as well) is the WIFI play. you can send your music to multiple speakers at once, to either have them in multiple rooms, or to REALLY fill a room with music. One very niche thing I spotted that probably won't apply to most who buy this kind of speaker, is there is an amount of latency when using the aux cable. I tried to use the speaker as an amplifier for an electronic drum kit, there was however a tiny delay between the hit on the drum, and the sound being processed, which obviously makes a big difference in that scenario.. but for just listening to music will not matter at all. Most of the control is best done from the app for the device, giving you a three band EQ (only bass and treble available on the device itself), and all of the usual features like updates, and music controls. There is voice assistant capability built in, but no option for Siri, so no use for Apple users, as well as supporting some music services, but again, not ones that I use. This is also a good looking speaker to have in your house, rather than some generic block of plastic like many speakers tend to be.

Bass, bass and more bass. You'd better like bass.
This speaker is a monster; the box weighs 13kg (that's more than my son weighs currently). It's a shame that the weight and heft of the speaker enclosure was not put to better use. The Harman Curve was developed to provide a frequency response that would be pleasing to the average music listener. JBL own Harman, so I had high hopes that this speaker would provide an engaging listening experience. I was wrong. I assume JBL were aiming at people who prioritise bass over anything else about music. Nevermind the mids where you get vocals. Never mind the treble where you get higher range instruments like rhythm guitars. No, bass is what you get, and you'd better like bass. There is an EQ within the app, but it is a three band eq, which acts as more of a shelf than targeting individual frequencies. EQ cannot save you from the bass. The array of connectivity options are very selective in when you are allowed to use them; it took a day to connect the speaker to my wifi network, and even then I had to connect via ethernet first. Chromecast does not work, it will not allow you to group with other chromecast devices (despite the app pushing you to do so). The bluetooth lacks hi-res codec support, which in a speaker this large is unforgivable since you can hear the compression clearer than you can on some smaller bluetooth speakers. If you like bass, you will get more bass than you ever wanted from this speaker. The only recommendation I have for it is if you really want to tick off your neighbours.

Good Speaker but let down by mobile app.
This is a speaker who needs a big space as it's huge and heavy. The sound output especially the bass is excellent. The quality of the mids, highs and deep lows is astonishing. Looks-wise, it has those 80s retro looks and does add to the rustic feeling of the decor. You will not need to crank up the high volume as the speaker amplifier is way too powerful to produce distortion-free sound. The bad news is the app. You can only control the volume and the feature less equalizer. There is no way of knowing if the autocalibration of the room is complete upon power-up. You can't restart the speaker from the app should it refuse to connect over the Bluetooth, there is no hard switch to do this on the speaker too, you have to yank the cable out of the backport. The Bluetooth sometimes randomly disconnects and needs to be reconnected to initiate the connection. Also noticed, there is a slight constant hissing sound on the speaker when there is no music being played.

Brilliant sound, looks fantastic.
Outstanding piece of kit. The sound quality, genuinely, it absolutely incredible, and stays at a really high level whatever volume it is set at. It works brilliant with Google Home and Alexa, and connects seamlessly with no issues at all. It also looks fantastic, which helps. It was a shame it would not connect with my JBL clip on the JBL app, which explains the lost star on my rating. All in all though, an exceptional speaker. All that being said however, the price of this product is also very very high, and that would put me off unfortunately.

Phenomenal smart home speaker
JBL authentics 500 is a phenomenal smart speaker. This can be connected through wifi, Bluetooth or auxiliary. It comes with google and alexa built in connectivity. The package and design is very good along with the high quality leather wrapped around the speaker. The sound quality is very nice especially the bass. This is very loud and clear running on 270 watts speaker output. It comes with Dolby Atmosphere thats makes the music like a real live atmosphere or 3D sound. There is a designated app to control the speaker. The only downside about this speaker, because this is design for home speaker this does not have a battery meaning you cannot use it outside. The power button is missing as plugging it is the power. This is quite heavy and big so it needs to be place in a secure place and ideally permanently. Overall, I love this JBL authentics 500 speaker for its powerful sounds and voice commands.

Excellent sound quality
It’s hard to put into words how brilliant this speaker is. I will say to begin with that I thought it was a speaker that would sit on the shelf, how wrong I was, this thing is huge! This is a very stylish piece of kit, it definitely has the retro vibes with its design and as with JBL, it is very well made. Connecting via Bluetooth is very easy and you can get with playing your music. The sound quality? Wow, it’s insane, very crisp and true to JBL, nice and bassy. Plenty of adjustment of bass and treble, even on low volume it is loud so will be perfect for a party
