Q: Can you turn off the Roku when not using?
submitted by Nancy - 2 years ago
A:Â Hi Nancy, I don't know if you found out the answer but I watched a Youtube Video and the guy said to hit the Home button when done streaming instead of power tv off or Roku would still run? Check that answer out...I seen another guy who used a certain type outlet ?
submitted bystonekelrn - 2 years ago
A:Â To the person who asked if the Roku is on all of the time, you can buy a special power strip for your TV and its devices. Plug the TV into the main slot and your ROKU and other devices will turn on and off when you turn on the TV. Saves energy. These power strips are generally available online or at big box stores.
submitted byGrandma M - 1 year ago
A:Â Hi Nancy, Roku streaming players are low-power devices that are designed to remain on and always connected to the internet. This helps to allow for instant-access to all of your favorite channels, along with new OS software updates automatically without interruption.

Got this to replace a super old Roku Stick and I wish I had kept the old one. This only time this one consistently works is when I want to to turn the TV on/off. Freezes/buffers everytime I use it however my old one did not. Buttons on remote only work 50% of the time. Often I cant even scroll through the home screen menu. Waste of money.

Video (only) freeze and lack of tv support
2 out of 5 stars
Bob C - 3 months ago
originally posted on roku.com
Both first unit and replacement unit have occasional video freeze, while audio continues to play in multiple apps. only a few feet away from network router extender. so it's not that (as suggested in other posts about freezing). Wanted to move it to a small tv in another room where we have a non 4k streaming stick that has Voice remote support for the TV brand (Tyler), But the 4k stick does not list this brand in its list of supported tv's. Non 4k stick works fine on both TV's, so problem is only with 4k version, Very disappointed, Will likely get an Amazon firestick if they don't fix this soon (hopeful there's a software path forthcoming). VERY long thread on the forum about this issue, so I am not alone having this problem.

Hi Robert, thanks for providing your feedback. Since you've experienced the same behavior on more than one device, it would be very helpful for us to connect with you directly to learn more. For example, does this issue typically only occur on the same channel like Netflix, Hulu, or FuboTV, or does it occur on many channels? When the issue does arise, it would be very helpful to submit a tracker ID. Simply say "get tracker ID" as a voice command and take a photo for our team. We invite you to reach out to us at customer.advocate@roku.com. Please be sure to mention this review along with any additional details you can provide. Thank you! Roku Customer Advocate
