Too Hot

Bought yesterday, put it on lowest setting, and within 2 minutes it was too hot to tolerate, had to turn it off. Returned to retailer today.

Worst heating pad I've owned

Right out of the box this past was annoying, the power cable constantly came out because it had no security clips. I always found the past too hot, the warm seeing was the only one I could use or it would scald me. Now I see this plug is broken, I don't know if it's always been like that or just happened, but the past starts on my bed and has never been roughly handled or moved. The size was nice but everything else was disappointing.

Great when works! Breaks quickly

It's very hard to rate this product. I loved it for the time that it worked. It's the biggest one I've seen, it actually gets hot enough, the cover doesn't slip off easily, it has a long cord, and 4 heat settings. HOWEVER, it lasted only a year. Based on other reviews, that's longer than many, but that is not a reasonable life span. I used it intermittently for that year (pain and season dependent), so while I didn't use it all the time for that year, when I did use it I'd use it many days in a row for a few hours at a time. Everything is great about it except its longevity.

Not worth it.

I received this as an Xmas gift. Have used it maybe 4 times. As per all the other 1 star reviews it stops working. Controller just blinks red. Have followed all instructions to unplug etc with no luck. Seems to be a common problem.

Doesn't Stay Connected

I have quite a bit of experience with Sunbeam heating pads and have always chosen them first. This XXL was given as a gift 10 days ago. The heat is wonderful and very soothing. HOWEVER, the cord connection into the pad does not have the outer pincers to hold on, as other pads I've bought do. (See photos comparing the two.) The cord disconnects from the pad with very little movement, leaving me wondering why the heat has stopped long before the 2-hour auto shut off. I have never had this problem with the other size pads. I will return it today.

Great when it actually works

I’m on about my 6-7th xxl heating pad. The second last one the controller didn’t even last a week, the last one lasted only a week as well. The longest one has ever lasted for me is about three months. I have chronic back pain and need heat to help me. I only kept buying them because I liked the way they work when they do work. I am beyond frustrated with this product and can’t understand why there are good reviews because the product is absolute junk. I want my money back.

I love this pad

Got this a year ago and it's been great! I had the 2 of smaller size for years before upgrading to this one, and like them it warms up quick, stays nice and evenly warm the whole time and over the whole surface, and just generally works like it's supposed to without any problems, even though I use it pretty heavily and am not particularly gentle to it. The cover is very thick and soft and the internal wire things are flexible and hardly noticeable, so it feels like wrapping myself in a spa bathrobe. I don't usually write product reviews but this has been really excellent chronic pain relief and I appreciate the thoughtful design/engineering put into making this easy and comfortable to use!

Love this size and the temp it reaches but…

I’m on my 4th xxl heating pad. I didn’t know that there was a warranty or I would have saved myself some money. I’ve had this one less than a month and I got the flashing red light of death. Plugging, unplugging etc to reset has done nothing. The max time I’ve gotten out of one is just over a year and the least would be just under a month. I need it for chronic pain issues so unfortunately I’m sure I’ll be dealing with faulty heating pads on a regular basis with my luck 😅

Did not work, straight out of the box. One star is too much for this product.

The unit would not allow us to choose a heat setting, no light indicator no matter what setting we chose. Plugged into a working wall outlet, no luck. Checked the cord connector. It had a tight fit. No coiled cords, so we could not figure out why a brand new heating pad did not work. Extremely disappointed. Now we have to go through the trouble of returning it. I wish we at least got to see what it could do like other reviewers before it died. Where is the quality control? This was purchased to releave pain, not cause it.

Nice, but:

I bought this a week ago and the heat is nice. Unfortunately the way the auto-off works, I can’t use it again for another half hour at least. I’ve tried unplugging it and waiting, shutting off the power strip it’s on for a while, it’s rather disappointing because it’s a nice, big heating pad with good heat and soft fabric.

great size

the warm setting is so hot i have to turn it off because it is burning my back. cannot imagine what hot feels like. love the size and everything else.

Stopped working

I bought this a few hours ago, used it and the auto shut off went on after 2 hours. I have waited well over an hour and it wont turn back on. I have unplugged and tried different outlets still nothing.

That is not the experience we would like you to have. No worries, we are happy to assist you. Control Blinking, No Heat or No power may be an indicator that the product is not receiving enough power from the source. To fix this problem, please follow these troubleshooting steps in order: 1. Unplug the heating pad from the wall outlet for at least 30 seconds 2. Verify there is no physical damage to the cord, controller, or heating pad 3. Verify the connection between the heating pad and the controller is tight 4. Verify that the power cord is plugged directly into a wall outlet. Be sure that this heated product is used only on an AC supply circuit of the proper voltage. Do not use with an extension cord. Do not use with generators, power converters or inverters. 5. Try a different appliance (such as a small lamp) in the outlet to ensure the outlet is functional 6. Try plugging the heating pad into a different outlet to see if it works in a different outlet Your heating pad has a 5-year warranty.
