The Doux Bananas Xtreme Hold Hair Gel - 12oz

Based on my experience with this product, I found that its strong hold properties tended to dry out my hair, necessitating weekly deep conditioning treatments. Therefore, I recommend using a cream-based product in conjunction with this one to maintain adequate moisture levels.

After trying the Pop Lock (5-day) curl forming glaze I decided to Go Bananas! I wanted to know if I could also reach a 7 day stretch with my wash n go as I did with Pop Lock. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed because I reached and surpassed 7 days. I usually don't refresh because after 3 to 4 days with other brands I have to wash due to buildup and weight of product. But I was able to get to day 8 with my first try paired with Mousse Def and day 10 with the next one with Chief Rocka. I allow my gel cast to soften on its own and although my hair was soft on the last day each time, my curls remained defined and the hold is firm but not crunchy. I have osteoarthritis in both of my hands so I give it an overall 4 stars due to my inability to squeeze the bottle at all, I even tried storing it upside-down as suggested after failing to squeeze it with both hands.

I am in love with this gel! This gel makes my 3c wash and go last with no flaking, a glass like shine, and it has great hold. The only thing I would change is the packaging. When applying the gel to soaking wet hair as the directions stated, it was difficult to get the product out of the bottle with wet hands. Please change the packaging so that it is in a jar.

If you’re looking for your wash and go to last… this gel will give you the hold to last the week! Great shine and hair is flawless!

I’ve tried so many gels that either flake, leave my curls crunchy, or don’t hold past day two. Bananas Xtreme Hold is the one. It gives me shine, definition, and real hold without the dryness. I use it for my wash and gos and my curls stay soft but still pop. Even in this Michigan humidity, my hair holds up. No flakes, no weird residue, just good hair days. I don’t gatekeep, so if you’ve been looking for a gel that actually does what it says, this is it.

I have used this product 3 times and I still have enough product for at least 1 more wash and go. This will be my go to styler for the summer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I first bleached my hair, I struggled with finding a gel that held my “swoops” in place. The Bananas Extreme Hold was perfect for that. I literally threw my edge pomades away. I love that a little goes a long way.

The Doux did it with this one! Bananas gives the perfect hold without leaving a crunchy feeling. My curls got such great definition from using it on wash day. And the smell! It has a subtle hint of banana and it’s intoxicating.

The style has lasted all week and could last even longer. I also love that just a quick spritz with water, the gel reactivates and you can refresh your hair without adding more product. I loveeeee this gel!! This will be in my new rotation for sure. I have type 4a/b hair and it does not flake on me at all. I used this gel on top of my leave in conditioners and overall my hair felt hydrated. The bonus with this gel is that it holds my curl in place. I'm talking about locked in.
