Q: Your Tide Free and Clear HE says it is now 84 fl. oz. and it does 64 loads. I used to purchase 92 fl. oz. and it also said 64 poads. Is the product now somehow stronger?

  • A: I called my local store and asked them to verify whether the 154 oz version (DPCI: 003-08-0159) is in fact High Efficiency (HE). They verified that it is HE. The person I spoke with said the HE logo is on the bottle — admittedly, I haven't yet purchased so I'm verifying this second hand.

Q: I have a traditional (non-HE) machine. I know I'll need to use a bit more since trad uses more water than HE. How much detergent do I need to use for S, M, L and XL loads?

Here’s a quick guide for Tide detergents: - Small/Medium loads: Fill the measuring cap to the fill line (usually bar 1 or line 1). - Large loads: Fill the cap to about bar 3 or line 2. - Extra Large (XL) loads or heavily soiled: Use two capfuls or fill to bar 5. Make sure to add the detergent after your machine fills with water and before adding clothes. Also, always check the specific product label for exact dosing. My two younger sons and I have eczema-prone skin and I also have sensitivity to fragrance, and none of us have ever had reactions wearing clothes, sleeping on sheets, or using towels washed in Tide Free & Gentle. My workout clothes and my oldest son’s sport uniforms come out clean and fresh-smelling as well. If your family has sensitivity to dye or fragrance, I highly recommend this detergent and continue to purchase this for our home.

    New and NOT Improved

    Tide has decided to "improve" upon their Free and Gentle laundry detergent, and by "improve" they mean add more chemicals. For people with sensitive skin (like me) these added chemicals are causing reactions. I wore a t-shirt I had washed with this "new and improved" formula and itched/burned for a solid half hour before taking it off. I've come across other reviews of people breaking out in rashes and hives. Why Tide felt the need to change a product for sensitive people is beyond me. I certainly won't be using this anymore.

It says unscented, but I smell something that reminds me of cleaning chemicals. There’s no sand after they’ve been washed, rinsed, and dry.     New Formula New Skin Reactions

    Really want to know who at Tide thought it would be a good idea to add more chemicals to a laundry detergent that's supposed to be for sensitive skin. This "new and improved" formula is making my skin itch and feels like it's burning. I've been using Tide Free and Gentle for years and NEVER had any issues. Why improve something that didn't need to be improved? Now I'm going to have to find a new laundry detergent and hope I don't break out in a rash or hives. Thanks, Tide.
