Most kids' power tools are labeled for children ages 3 and up.
Many kids' tool toys require no assembly, but larger kits (for example, workbenches) often note that adult assembly is required.
Several kids' power tools include built-in lights or a pivoting worklight; some hobby/craft screwdrivers also have light effects to illuminate the work area.
Many toy power tools use AA cells (commonly 2–4 AA); others use 2 AAA or 3 AA. A few hobby/crafting tools use a single 20V battery pack (non‑universal), and some items list no batteries at all.
