A: Sadie, This product does get warm when in use. It is advised to always unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. In addition, the manual also states users should allow the product to cool before cleaning or handling.

Q: The browning dial on the toaster is very loose and easy to spin. Doesn't seem to stay at one level or click into place. Is this right??

A: This product does not have a retractable cord. However you can wrap the cord on the bottom of the unit if you wish to expose less of it on your countertop.

A: Fred, This toaster has an "Extra- Life Carriage Control Lever" which helps bring the items near the top of the toaster to assist with the removal of the smaller slices of bread.

Q: does the bagel setting toast both sides of the slice? Can it be adjusted to only toast the sliced side?

A: Bagel eater, this toaster offers a "bagel" selection option but that option pertains to the time needed to toast this type of thicker bread. There is not an option to toast only the sliced side. Having said that, I am a bagel lover myself and have been very pleased with this toaster.

Q: Does this toaster beep when done? The toaster I have now beeps very loudly and there is no way to turn it off. I want to make sure I won't have the same issue with this one.

Bagel feature does not work. My other Cuisinart toaster that I wore out toasted a bagel only on one side when the button was pushed in. This does not. It toasts both sides. Why include this feature?

I'm in my 70s and this CPT160SU, puchased Nov 2024, is the worst toaster I've encountered. Only one side is well toasted so have to turn around. Toast barely reaches the top (standard sliced bread) and difficult to extract. Outside of toaster gets hot. Controls around the side not easy to see. Temperature control easily knocked out of setting. Only saving grace is that it was on a special price so not too much money wasted.

What is wrong with this toaster? I bought it about 6-8 weeks ago and it burns the bottom and toasts the top, this is on setting 3 for Honey Wheat bread. I tried dropping it down to 2 and it lightly toasted and flipped the bread upside down and then it burned the entire thing. This is the 5-6th toaster of varying brands I have purchase in the past 1 1/2 yrs and they all have the same issue, burn part of the toast and leave the rest barely toasted. All the elements appear to work but the bottom ones get hotter. The toaster I had to replace was purchased in 2003 and lasted 21 years and toasted great until it finally quit. I shouldn't have to keep a constant eye on the toaster and flip bread around.

I like my toast lightly colored so I use a setting of about three and a half. Works perfectly. I have the stainless model to match other appliances in the kitchen. The toast and english muffins don't pop up high enough even when you push the handle. Have singed fingers trying to get it out and often have to use a fork or knife to lift out the toast or muffin
