  • A: This is an excellent question. Washing machines have different capacities that may affect load sizes. We recommend you first check the manual for your machine. In the meantime, when a washing machine drum is around half full, you have a medium or regular wash load. For a large load, the machine will be about three quarters of the way full and for an extra large load, fill the drum. But, be careful not to overload your machine, since clothes need to be able to move freely. If you have other questions, or if we can help further, please give us a call at (800) 879-8433.

I love the concept, but I had an allergic reaction after using it just once. To make sure it wasn’t anything else, I washed another load of clothes using only Tide Free and Gentle and nothing else. And yeah, I’m allergic to it.

Good for sensitive skin

My husband has sensitive skin and after trying multiple brands of unscented detergent we found what works! I love that this detergent gives the same results as regular tide but with less ingredients and it kind to sensitive skin! I always keep this stocked in my laundry pantry!

For our asthmatic household...

Not only does detergent these days have a bunch of additives that you can't pronounce, but who knows what all that stuff does to our health and well-being. The goal here is to rid ourselves of all that garbage, but still have the cleaning power to get the dirt and grime off our clothing, bedding, and towels. In comes Tide Free & Gentle. We have asthmatic pets in our household. They're our children. We'll do anything to keep them safe and free of flare-ups. One in specific is on medicine for for the rest of her life. Needless to say, anything she touches or sleeps on, we want her to not have anything 'chemical' to transfer onto her fur or be breathed in. Tide gives us the reassurance that we're being as proactive as we can to help mitigate the issue. We've never had an issue with the lack of cleaning power here. It doesn't need to be blue with big words and an overpowering fragrance for it to do its job. Free & Gentle is just that. Simple, effective, and clear of the stuff we don't need or want. There's no extra cost to using this over the other stuff. You have no excuse to not keep you, your pets, and children safe from unnecessary contaminants. Give it a chance and I think you'll be thrilled at the results.

This soap is supposed to be “free & gentle” yet it gave my 3 year old hives for days. My kid needed a dose of oral steroids to get rid of them. Idk what is in this detergent, but if you have sensitive skin stay away from it. Picture below is when it finally started getting better. Her hives were even more red and blotchy prior to this.

My go-to detergent for gym clothes and synthetics

I started using Tide Free & Gentle Liquid after doing a deep dive into the r/laundry subreddit. I use the liquid specifically for my dark clothing, synthetic fabrics, and especially my gym clothes. It gets everything feeling and smelling genuinely clean without adding a heavy fragrance. It's been especially good for my workout clothes, which can develop that dreaded odor "rebloom" if they aren't washed properly. I have a Samsung HE washer and very hard water, and this still performs really well. I also only use about 3/4 of the recommended amount and get great results. This has become a staple in my laundry routine.

Great for sensitive skin!

We started using this when my son was born because he’s super super sensitive to anything with scent! I also switched to using it for my and my husband so that hour son doesn’t have a reaction to our clothing! It still cleans our clothes so well and refreshes them, but we’re no longer dealing with the breakouts from other scented detergent! It’s easy to pour and a great deal, especially at Costco!

Safe for babies

This is the only detergent we use for our baby and the entire family. Clothes doesn’t have that fresh laundry scent but it gets the job done and free of fragrant chemicals

Not as many pods as advertised.

I love Tide free and gentle but I am going to switch to All. The last three times I have bought this product, I have had two less pods inside than the package says. (Always 40 instead of 42. And I’m tired of the false advertising.

Gentle on sensitive skin and fragrance free, great for newborns!

This is my go to laundry detergent for my newborn’s clothing. It is gentle on her sensitive skin, and I love that it is fragrance free. I also use this on my own clothing as I have sensitive skin as well.
