Good
I’ve been using it for two weeks so far and I already see an improvement with my dark spots and hyperpigmentation. It also reduced my acne :) It does smell weird though

Not what it used to be
This used to be my #1 product in my skin care routine. I used to swear by it. I noticed the bottle changed last time i purchased it but the serum seems to have changed as well. It used to be odorless and now it has a strong fishy smell. I pushed passed the smell and used it anyway but it hasnt had any effect on my skin. It's definitely not the same product. What a shame.

No I wouldn't buy this product again
It smells like garlic and I don't feel refreshed after using or feel like it's doing anything for my pigmentation

I love it!
Works miracles on my hyperpigmentation spots. I use it once daily and it's faded my spots without irritation or causing breakouts. I've been using this for years now and absolutely love it.

Check ingredients
Product has ingredients not listed in the labeled online - including sodium metabisulfite, which I’m allergic to. I checked the ingredients online before purchasing and it wasn’t listed and then was on the box.

Bad Odor
I've been using this for a couple of years and it's been a staple in my skincare routine. However, the last bottle I received has a horrible onion/garlic smell. I did a deep dive and found others complaining as well. According to The Ordinary's website, they changed the formula because people were complaining of discoloration of the serum. They added an ingredient to prevent that from happening, and this ingredient apparently smells horrible. I honestly thought the product had spoiled. Even when I wash my hands after applying, I can still smell it. I'm currently on the hunt for another Alpha Arbutin prodect now, sadly, because I just can't heandle the odor. I would've rather dealt with the discoloration than this personally....

Formula Change on my Holy Grail
This has been my holy grail, everyday product with incredible results but after having an alarming experience on the first day of vacation, the company confirmed they changed the formulation. It also now has a strong fish odor on the skin.

Works Well, Second Time Purchasing
Effective and gentle on my sensitive skin. My fair, freckled complexion is noticeably brighter, spots and freckles are significantly faded. I use daily in combination with the Ordinary Cold Pressed Rose Hip Oil, Moisturizer and Glycolic Acid toner.

tiny red bumps and rash, itchy
Was looking forward to addressing acne scars and hyperpigmentation. I was only able to use the product twice before my skin completely rejected it. I did see a brightening and tightening effect, but that didn't matter because it caused tiny red bumps to appear and an itchy, painful rash. I had to wash it off and hoping the rash doesn't scar. Clearly, I'm allergic to one of the ingredients. Still open to cautiously trying products from this brand.

Old formula was amazing... new REEKS of Onions
Have used this for years and LOVED it. But the new formula is terrible!! It smells like onions and then your face smells like onions and your hands smell like onions from applying it and you cannot escape the smell. If they bring the old formula back I will buy but otherwise I can’t use this anymore

Cost-effective but not much change
I liked this product since it was so cheap and did help subside any breakouts, however, I didn't see much change. I used this product consisitently and went through it fairly quickly compared to other The Ordinary serums. If you have a few pimples this could be a good option, but if you have a good amount of acnr scars I feel like there is better options out there.

Did not help
I purchased this to address hyper pigmentation. I use this product faithfully, twice a day, for a couple months. This product made Difference no difference. Also, this smells like garlic.
