i exchange my 955 to 965 which is a big improvement from my point, the screen is much sharper and the battery life is the same if not better.

Best around
Best Fitness Watch I've ever owned. Does exactly what I needed to do at the level of performance that far surpasses any of the smart watches I've owned. If you're looking for a fitness Smartwatch I would highly recommend this one.

Great watch with a fatal flaw
This watch is 95% perfect. I swim (alot), bike, run, hike, SUP, kayak... and it does it all. My favorite is the connection to all trails so I can keep my phone in my pocket all day (okay, minus time for pictures) and focus on the trail with inobtrusive trail guidance, a full color and easy to read map, and accurate tracking. LOVE IT! I also love that swimming workouts are low maintenance. Other than drill sets, I can turn it on and it knows (mostly) when I start and stop my sets. And it is 95% accurate on distance tracking in the pool. That said, I've already had to replace the watch once for a broken altimeter - a long time challenge across Garmin models that I've also had to replave. Apparently chlorine destroys the device. Not at all good for a watch marketed to triathletes who... gulp... swim. Alot. I likely will never pay full price for another Garmin elite watch until I know this is fixed.

As an endurance athlete, you'll wonder how you ever managed without it. Absolutely indespensible. Garmin or nothing.

Long-Time Garmin User — This One Feels Defective
I’ve been a loyal Garmin user for almost 15 years, and honestly this has been my most frustrating experience so far. The Forerunner 965 has been extremely disappointing. The stair tracking is completely off — it counts stairs like madness, even when I’m not climbing anything. This isn’t a small glitch, it makes one of the core activity metrics basically useless. I’ve already tried every tip and recommendation to fix it — recalibration, settings adjustments, resets, updates — and nothing has worked. At this point, it really feels like a defective device, not a user issue. I’ve trusted Garmin for years because of reliability and accuracy, but this watch is not meeting that standard at all. It’s very frustrating to see such a premium device perform this poorly. Order Number: 104423950056 Order placed May 16, 2024 I really hope this gets addressed, because right now this experience is far below what I expect from Garmin.

Lift/run/golf/sleep - MUCH better than Apple!
I bought this watch a month ago and I’m so happy I did… I’ve been an avid Apple Watch wearer for years but haven’t been happy with the health metrics from Apple Health and can’t find third-party apps that meet my wants/needs. Plus the battery suxxxxxxxx on the Apple Watch. This watch does everything right out of the box that I wanted from my Apple Watch plus sooooooo much more. The golf feature slaps too!! I workout every morning and play golf once a week and this watch easily goes 2 weeks between charges. 12/10, would recommend 👍

New Garmin 965
Bought new Garmin 965 for me as a Christmas gift! It's heaps ahead of the 935 I used for the past 7 years. Such a great watch - so much information and easy to read. Also great battery life

Horrible painful Wrist Strap rash
The wrist strap has caused a painful red mark on my wrist after normal use. I’ve been a lifelong runner and a high school track coach, and I’ve worn many different watches and fitness trackers over the years. I’ve never experienced a reaction like this before. Given how essential a comfortable and reliable strap is for runners who wear these devices daily, this is very disappointing. A strap should not cause irritation during regular training or day-to-day wear. I expected better quality and comfort.

Poor reliability
I purchased the watch in June of 2023 and it stopped working in February of 2026. For the purchase price I expected a much longer service life than 2 1/2 years. I was charged an additional fee to replace the watch with a refurbished one. I can only hope this one lasts longer than the last one.

My Coach, Caddie, and Sleep Snitch — All on My Wri
I’ve trained with this watch for 5 years — 6 half Ironmans, 1 full Ironman, countless pickleball battles, and more golf rounds than I should probably admit. It’s basically been my fitness parole officer the entire time. I dig my Garmin Forerunner 965. The battery life is fantastic, and the ability to load workouts directly onto the watch is a game changer. During runs or bike intervals it tells me exactly what to do and when to do it, which means I can’t cheat (even when I really want to). The immediate feedback helps me actually hit every interval instead of just “feeling like I worked hard,” which is usually athlete code for slacking. The golf features are awesome too. It gives accurate distances to front, center, and back of the green, and with a quick tap I can see how far to carry a hazard or plan a layup. It even keeps my score, which is helpful evidence when my buddies start revising history in the clubhouse. The sleep analysis is another nice touch — apparently the watch knows exactly how poorly I sleep before big races and early tee times. My one complaint: the font size. I hate, hate, hate it. I’ve made the workout screens as big as possible, but the instructions for the next interval still show up in tiny font. When you’re running hard, squinting at a microscopic message like you’re trying to read the fine print on a pharmaceutical ad isn’t ideal. Overall though, this watch has been an incredible training partner — part coach, part caddie, part sleep detective. If Garmin could just make the interval instructions readable by someone over 40, it would be perfect. Still giving it 5 stars.

Awesome!
Love the 965!! My favorite thus far!! However I ordered a replacement bad... not as I hoped. Thought it would be exactly the same as the band that came with the watch.

Upgrade to the 965
Switched from a Forerunner 945 due to a broken seal. The 965 is a definite upgrade. More features to figure out how to use, which is a good thing but it takes awhile to get used to it because it is so different. Easier to read notifications, the morning report is good, seeing the temperature in the glances is good, and the nap detector is nice. Only issue I had (before I turned the screen to always on) was trying to my distance or time while I was running.

So glad I switched from Apple Watch to this!
I was originally going to buy the Forerunner 970, but I didn't like that it has a bright colored piece on the edge that you can never remove. Wearing a bright yellow accent piece with every outfit is just not practical for everyone! So I went for the 965 because it looks sleek and premium and offers outstanding features for running, cycling, and general health and well-being. One month in and I am delighted with the experience. I enjoy a more traditional watch design over the Apple Watch, and Garmin's in-depth suite of features continues to make the experience more and more valuable. The best purchase I have made this year!

HR tracking
I bought This watch for the gps tracking and HR tracker. GPS is great. If your trying to track your overall HR or your zones. Then this watch is a glorified wrist weight. Even with the chest strap it does an average job at best. For the price of this watch I expect better. I reached out to Garmin and they didn’t really have an answer for me. They should replace this watch in all transparency

Garmin Never Disapoints
Its been years since I've bought a Garmin product, I had an Apple watch for a while but its like having an Iphone strapped to your wrist to many functions, time suck and distracting...I had a Whoop for a few years too, but you need your phone to look up the data. Glad I bought this becuase it has a beautiful easily customizable face, there are a ton of features, but if you want to just dsay go on a ride an dhit go..you cna do so without sopending 20 minutes on a device. It send me my texts, does alarms...on and on the data and GPS are on track for serious adult level atheletets. I bought the HR moniter with it which of course gives it even more metrics. Fav features are the sleep and recovery and "charge" feature where it tells you where your body is in the recovery process. ALSO you don't have to freaking charge it every dang day like an Apple Watch and or Whoop. I love it.

Works Great, Love the Metrics
I'm a data nerd so I love the complete overload they give you, especially the ability to have 8 data fields on a workout screen. Only downside is I don't like the LED screen. It's obviously gorgeous, but the memory in pixel screens were more functional in general. I don't like have a constant light on my wrist, and it's not as easy to see in bright sun, but still visible. But still a 5+ star watch. Definitely worth the money.
