Giovanni L.A. Hold Styling Hair Gel - 6.8oz: For Dry Hair

I did not like this gel because, even though it says it’s strong hold, it gave my loose, fine waves no cast. My waves fell out on day one. I tried using a ton, and my hair did not feel like it had anything in it once dried. Where did all the product go?

It says it's free from chemicals, however, it has a strong odor that bothers me, so I mix it with aloe vera juice. It holds well though.

Very sticky! Frizzed my natural curls. Not a fan. Wanted to love it but not for my hair.

great product for holding hair that is hard to control in place without the harsh chemicals many other brands have.

This is a good gel. It comes out very thick and smooth, and the key is to not use a big glob. Just use a smaller amount, and rub it between your hands before applying to your hair. It helps to add just a bit of water when rubbing your hands together, to get it to spread out easier. I wish they wouldn't use a synthetic fragrance ingredient; those aren't healthy. However, it isn't overly-strong smelling and doesn't last, so I use it anyway. The gel gives good medium hold and isn't sticky at all.

This is perfect for my short, chunky, spiky hair style. I use other products with it, but this is where I start every morning. I would rank it as "perfect", but I always struggle getting the last few applications out of the tube--not very functional. It is widely available but Swanson has the best price.

When I first got this product and tried it for a while, I couldn't get it to work so that I liked the results. I tried different varying amounts of it, on top of a leave-in conditioner, without a leave-in conditioner, on wetter hair, on just damp hair, letting dry naturally, blowing dry, etc. My biggest problems with it were getting frizz and having it weigh down my hair to the point that my natural curls wouldn't form and my hair just looked stringy and totally blah. FINALLY, I tried one combination that worked GREAT, and now I'm happy with it using it just the following way: I put a little plain aloe gel through my damp hair first, then I put in a very small amount of the Giovanni gel (like about 2 peas size approx.). Then I scrunch it throughout my hair, then lightly blot with a towel to remove any extra water/product. Then I can either let my naturally curly hair dry naturally, or lightly dry with a diffuser on the blowdryer. Now it leaves my hair with nice curls, no frizz, and no heavy product-y feeling! I think this must be a product that each person has to find their own way with.

I purchased this product for my husband. I was tired of all the chemical and perfume laden styling gels he was using. I didn't want to come near him because I'm so sensitive to chemicals. This still has some scent but I can live with the ingredient list.

I m going to stick with this product for long, i have very strong asian hair so it's difficult to find a product has very strong styling , also easy to wash it off. the another day i read the detail from the package i realized it's organic product. smell great i will continue to buy more in the future

Though I have a lot of it, my hair is stick straight and very fine. Without styling products to help plump it up, it lies completely flat on my head and looks unkempt and drab. When I stopped getting perms 10 years ago, I searched for something with firm hold that would help my hair keep a curl (I use hot rollers every day). I discovered this wonderful styling gel at Whole Foods a few years ago. Even when it's humid, it prevents the curl from drooping. I can't tell you how delighted I was when I discovered that Swanson carried it at a much lower price.
