I upgraded from my Apple Watch and was torn between what seemed like a lot of good options. I was looking for something that didn’t drop the smart watch features I have come to love, but needed both better battery and running performance in a new watch. The 970 has not disappointed. It is accurate and gives me the insight for informed training and recovery. This has been a best of both worlds.

Bought this watch because I am planning on doing my first triathlon (picked a doozy in the 70.3 Ironman - imindanger.jpg) and wanted some help with training, tracking expenditure/recovery and a few other features that called out to me. I am coming from the vivoactive 3 and this watch is miles ahead of that one. The battery life, the screen, the features. Very happy with my purchase.
Love my 970

I love this watch. It has (almost*) everything you could want in a GPS fitness watch. The display is beautiful, the UI is smooth and convenient, the fitness and health tracking is outstanding, and it sits comfortably on the wrist without being too bulky. *There are only two things lacking for me with this watch, that SHOULD be easy fixes with a software update. 1. Golf Activity - This watch needs to show the full hole like the Fenix and S70. It has the same display and touch capabilities and same coding framework as Fenix so there's no reason to gatekeep this feature. Please provide a software update to enable this. 2. Watch Faces - I'd like to see more watch faces available, particularly all the the other compatible Garmin stock faces. It's not the same getting a recreated version of another watch face from the iConnect store cause they can't be smoothly edited on the watch. Data Dash comes stock on Fenix, why not here?

I've been running for the past 50 years, and I've been using Garmin since they announced their first GPS watch. I always try to use the latest and greatest, and this is no exception. I could talk about the new metrics, but honestly, I'm most excited about the flashlight. It's great for running, and walking my dog, but it comes in handy at home too. Sure, Garmin is expensive, but it's worth it.

The Garmin’s Forerunner 970 is an excellent running watch. It gives the runner accurate running data that can easily be used to tailor your running program to achieve a higher level of performance. Paired with the Garmin HRM 600 you will get a deeper level of running data to work with.
Finally made the move from my Apple Watch!

Having only used my new Garmin for a week, I’m already hooked and have missed my Apple Watch goodbye! I love the data and the morning/evening reports and have found the Body Battery and Coach to be helpful. Might be overwhelming for a beginner, but an avid runner will find the features outstanding! Definitely take the time to explore the app and the watch features to get the most out of it

I upgraded my Garmin 965 expecting no changes, but I was surprised by the brighter screen, the lamp, and the new UI of Garmin. It's amazing not to be warned about potential damage to my screen.

I have only had this watch for 2 weeks, but I am extremely pleased with my purchase! I upgraded from a Garmin 945, which is a great watch...but the 970 has so many additional features, and it is so user friendly. I really like the touch screen, where you can scroll through and get so much information. I love the HRV feature too, in addition to the battery saver. I have a lot more to learn about the watch and all of its features, but I already know that it was an excellent investment!

I set up my Forerunner 970 to display six parameters while running. The automated voice reads out these parameters at each mile. GPS appears consistently accurate.

The new Forerunner 970 is a great watch. It bridges the gap between the 965 and the Fēnix very well. It has most all of the features of the Fēnix except for suba diving. I decided to go with the 970 for the lighter weight and to save some money! While I won’t use most of the advanced running features, I got this watch for better tracking of backcountry skiing, mountaineering, hiking, and some biking. Also the flashlight is incredible! The new data insights are fantastic and I love the function overall. My only con so far is I do not like the watch face that is default. It would be lovely to see new ones added for the 970. To solve that I am using a Fēnix style face from the connect IQ app. Overall, highly recommend if you are looking to track outdoor activities!

Loving it. Best display-brightness, sharpness, colors and beautiful user interface. Love the sapphire crystal. I imagine the Fenix 8 is comparable but prefer this form factor for running and daily wear. Lot of battery comments online but no problem for me. Have received compliments from others.

Have used it for 2 months, and I enjoy every new features of this watch paired with my hrm600. The running performance and economy is a game changer that I can analyze how do I improve my running form to become more energy efficient and avoid injury based on the stats. Also I love doing night run during hot summer so the flashlight is so useful and doesn’t drain the battery too much.
