    FYI Ammonium Lactate Smells Like Ammonia!

    While I do believe it works, please be forewarned about the smell. Apparently the brand name “Amlactin” comes from the primary active ingredient - lactic acid in the form of ammonium lactate. You read that right - ammonium. As in ammonia. It reeks! That being said, I’m still using it, though not as much during the day due to not wanting to smell like cat pee all day. I will continue to use it, but it stinks to high heaven so keep that in mind if you’re out and about or sharing a bed. Another gripe would be the price. As of spring ‘26, the bottle containing 7.9 oz was $16. Technically more than $2 per ounce. That seems kind of insane. All in all, because I’m using several products to try and help my legs recover from a particularly dry winter and strawberry skin, I can’t say whether this is working super well on its own, but at least it isn’t harming. It is very hydrating without being greasy, the texture is lightweight and pleasant. It absorbs well! Just that darn smell, but honestly this is probably the best they could get it down to.

    I love this product!

    This is an absolute game changer. I had bumps on my arms for years and tried all of these different creams, nothing EVER worked. I discovered this product through a friend and it actually WORKS!     When I purchased this a few weeks ago, I thought why not try it. I’ve tried many products including prescription topicals and had fair to pretty good results. Nothing has brought me the relief I have found with Amlactin. I have congenital dry , itchy skin from my scalp to my feet. Everything itches and flakes all day every day. The temporary relief I receive with Amlactin is priceless.

    Disgusting smell

    Smells so bad I had to wash it off, therefore I can’t comment on the effectiveness. Used to the strong smell of lactic acid in the regular version, but this smelled rotten with a hint of soy sauce. The texture is light and absorbed quickly more or less like the regular version. Had to return.

    I actually love the new formulation contrary to other reviewers! The old formula felt so oily on my skin that I could never use it. When I saw they were advertising an updated formula, I decided to give it a shot again and I’m glad I did! I’ve tried a lot of products for my KP but this is by far the most effective one I’ve ever used. It significantly improves my KP over night and is really nourishing on my dry skin!

    Bring OLD FORMULA back

    This now formula is TRASH and now I get irritated itchy skin from it. Please bring back the OLD formula ad I dont even mind the scent of the of it. My skin hasn't been the same since the old formula changed.

    This works very well but to me it smells like ammonia, or a home perm in the 80s. Very pungent. The smell fades over a few hours, by the time you have to use it again.

    This product works! Dermatologist recommended it.

    I had cracked heels and went to the dermatologist because regular lotion didn’t seem to help and I wasn’t sure what was going on. He recommended this product. I have to say it works wonders! I bought these little socks that have a rubberized interior around the heel so that I could put this on my heels and then put the socks on so it didn’t soak through a cloth sock. I slept with these overnight and the next morning my heels were so much better. I wore the socks and used the lotion for a few more days and what a difference it is fantastic.

    Go Back to Old Formula

    I bought the old formula and saw life changing results. Skin texture did a complete 180. I referred so many friends to this lotion because of all the great changes I saw. Until they changed the formula. This new formula is not as effective and basically like any other run of the mill lotion moisturizer that I have tried. Right when I ran out of the old lotion and bought the new formula, I saw my skin go back to how it originally was. Not a fan anymore.

    I’m pleased! I personally saw results after 1st use, my skin gets really flaky and uncomfortable throughout the day and I also struggle with textured skin. I started out with applying for nightly skincare after cleansing and toning and I love the results, I might bump up to twice a day since I see improvement on my acne scarring. So far so good!

    I bought this lotion only 2 days ago and I have so much relief! Back in December I had a horrible reaction to snail mucin and it destroyed my skin barrier and left me with dull dry flaky skin. No matter what products I used from the store or dermatologist, nothing worked. I came across this product in the store and decided to give it a try. I mean what else could I lose? Two days later and I haven’t had a single flake on my face! My skin is back to being youthful ( I’m only 33) and radiant. It stung at first when I put it on, but subsided a few seconds later. I put this lotion on morning and night and always make sure you wear sunscreen after putting this on, the aha make your skin more sensitive to UV rays.
