Great Features and Screen
Upgraded from a Garmin 255 (which was fantastic) to a 964 and love the screen and additional features such as training readiness. Great watch that you will want to wear more often than just for training. Excellent batter life as well - Full charge has lasted over 16 days.

This watch is absolutely fantastic
I’v been holding off upgrading my watch for years and it’s finally broke down and purchased the Forerunner 965. It was honestly easier to set up than I expected, and it does everything well. I use it for running and mountain biking and the occasional hike / backpacking trip. - Battery life is good. - I easily set up activity profiles that prioritize the training metrics I care about when I work out. - the watch quickly connects to gps - maps are clear and better than expected for a watch. I can use the watch map… which says something (I have a garmin 1040 for road/gravel cycling just for the big map).

Great for my Triathlon Training. I used to have an Apple Watch Ultra 2 and this Garmin Forerunner 965 is levels above that. The battery life is exceptional along with the accuracy of distances, heart rate, etc. It feels a lot lighter on your wrist compared to Apple Watch Ultra 2. It feels a lot of sporty and geared toward athletics while the Apple Watch is more of a lifestyle watch. I would rate this product a 10/10 and 100% recommend it to a peer.

User Friendly and Worth It
I was up and running with the Garmin 965 right out of the box, which honestly surprised me. I’m not someone who naturally gravitates toward new technology, but this watch was intuitive and easy to navigate from the start. The setup was simple, the display is clear, and the features make sense without feeling overwhelming. If you want a powerful training watch that doesn’t require a tech degree to use, this is it.

Love Garmin but.....
I have been with Garmin forerunner first since 2009 and now just a couple of years with my 965 for Tri sport. amazing! For any reason Garmin has been dealing with software issues, as my app get frozen on my phone when I try to check my training status or so. I know maybe I should attend those reddit bla bla bla but I expect my product works well always. Garmin to me is the best !!! lets see how it continue from here.

Way too many glitches
I’ve had this watch for about a month now and it’s honestly just ok. It’s decent for running, but that’s about it. It is horrible for lifting weights as it cannot seem to detect heart rate during weightlifting, no matter where on my arm/wrist I put it. The app also doesn’t save any of the details about my workouts that I enter. Not worth the money.

Multiple workouts Fitness tracker
I purchased this in mid-December 2025 as an upgrade from the Vivoactive 4. It required some adjustment because it operates differently, particularly in how it tracks intensive minutes. The Forerunner 965 uses percentage of heart rate levels, but I have adapted to it and find it to be quite effective. It has five buttons that are less prominent compared to the Instinct, which is useful for those who wear gloves during workouts. It also includes a scrolling feature and has a battery life of six days with one to two workouts per day. If workouts are less frequent, I believe it can last up to 13 days on a single charge. Overall, I am satisfied with this purchase.

I can't function without this watch. Best battery life of any Garmin I've owned.
Outstanding features and upgrades AMOLED is not too sensitive, and very durable (hope I'm not jinxed on this). and the battery life is stellar!

Love this watch
I made the switch from the Instinct 3 Solar to the Forerunner. The main reason was the improved GPS, but I also love the swim functionality. I didn’t know it would be more comfortable to wear all day, and I really appreciate the bright visuals during workouts.

My Upgrade from Forerunner 55
I enjoyed the pushbutton simplicity of my Garmin Forerunner 55 which has served me well for years. Feeling the battery life declining and frustrated by the touchscreen of my alternative, an Apple Watch, I decided to gift myself an upgrade and chose the 965 (was comparing it to the Forerunner 265 and 570) even though I am not a tri-athlete -- mostly run/walk, hike and occasionally bike. Like any Garmin, it pairs easily with the Garmin Connect app. It has music storage capability which is a nice option to have, but it wasn't a deciding factor for me as I generally carry my iPhone as it's more convenient for managing content. While the 55 GPS was pretty accurate, I think the 965 is slightly better. As someone whose eyesight is declining a bit with age, I really appreciate the huge AMOLED color display which is very bright and accommodates more info widgets and makes reading messages and notifications easier. Chose the gray band version which I think is attractive although I wish it was a little darker shade. I also appreciate the flexibility to choose touch screen control over button functions when it's convenient and the advanced Coaching functions. Customizing the menu options and watch face is easy an consistent with other Garmin watches. I have yet to take full advantage of the map capabilities which I am hoping will be helpful especially when travelling and running unfamiliar cities. Overall I'm very pleased with the Forerunner 965 and recommend it highly especially if you're looking for a versatile triathlon training companion.
