This compact SHARP alarm clock is ideal for saving space on your nightstand. The ascending alarm never startles you like traditional alarm clocks. It offers you a gentler wakeup experience. The alarm clock has a soft rubber finish making it difficult to knock over and just fun to touch! The button controls are easily accessible from the top of the alarm clock. You can easily illuminate the display with its blue backlight by pressing the snooze button. the display will light up for 5 seconds and turn off to extend your battery life.

Q: Can the screen be easily seen during daytime or with lights on at night without hitting the backlight button? I do not want to have to turn it on to see the time. I need for it to be readable in natural or artificial light without backlight.

A: Hi. If you would like an "always on" backlight, an alarm clock that plugs into the wall will better suit your purpose. An LED display provides an always on display.

A: Hello. With battery operated clocks, the backlight is "on demand". You push the snooze button and the light will come on. It will turn itself off after several seconds. This allows you to see the time and maintain your battery life. It glows brightly in the dark but is also soothing to the eyes. Once you see the time, you can quickly go back to sleep in the darkness.

A: To adjust the time from AM to PM, just advance the time 12 hours. So if the clock is set to 6pm, advance it 12 hours to get 6am. Dont buy this one.
For some reason the alarm went off and when it did, no matter what I tried to do to stop it, it would'nt stop. Took out the batteries and when I put them in again, the alarm was still going. nothing would shut it off, except when I hit it with a hammer. Would not recommend.

Hello and thank you for your review. If you want to use the "on demand" light feature, it will allow you to see the time in the dark. You may prefer to have a clock that you plug into the wall instead of a battery operated clock. You will then have an always on display and the clock will be easy to see in the dark.

Waste of time literally!
My kids love the simplicity of this clock but it lasted less than a year before one of them started glitching and the other one gave up! I took them back. Waste of money. You get what you pay for!

Hello Jennifer. If the clock shows no PM, then that means the clock is set to AM. Advance the clock 12 hours to get to the correct time.

Hello. The light is on demand. This means that you press the light button to get a glance of the time. This preserves the battery life. For always on time display, a clock that plugs into the wall may suit you. You will always see the time lit up and you will not have to constantly replace batteries.

Doesnt stay blue- useless at night
I wish I would have read the reviews before I bought. It indeed doesn’t stay blue. That’s why I bought it thinking I could just look over in the night without having to do anything. In order to see, I’ll have to hit the snooze button.

Alarm stopped working
Alarm stopped working after 1 year. I set the alarm time properly and 75% of the time it goes off. 25% it either shuts itself off or makes no noise/doesn’t alarm. Makes a great clock but do not purchase it you want to risk not waking up
