A: No, the Breville® BES870 Barista Express® is not designed to make a full cup of coffee. It can extract a 1 cup shot or a 2 cup shot and hot water can be added to those to make an Americano.

Perfect advanced beginner machine.
Purchased two, one for me and one for a friend. Took some finessing at the beginning but works great. Instructions are thorough and anything I had questions about (“how to know how much pressure” etc) are ready to find on YouTube. I am glad I picked this one over the one with the screen or the auto-tamp because those steps would have been superfluous for me.

Group Head needs improvement
I loved my machine until I realized the inner shower head / group head (after you remove the metal shower head) was plastic and was partially melted. I tried to replace the group head but this would require disassembling the whole machine. This is considered "normal wear and tear" since the acidity of the coffee will eventually melt the plastic.

My coffee tastes better than buying it out. There is a learning curve- for each new bean you get, you need to play with the grind and amount to get the right pressure. Lots of videos on YouTube helped me.

Very satisfied with my purchase! I really enjoy having a hands on experience with making coffee this way. If you’re new to this type of coffee machine, I recommend getting a cheap whole bean bag to practice dialing your beans in. I have yet to master the frothing part but I’m hopeful:)

Extremely Dissapointed - Poor Quality and No Support
This is the second Breville espresso machine I’ve owned, and both have failed in under 120 days - the boiler stopped working properly and no longer steams. I followed the manufacturers return process exactly and have been calling Breville for over two weeks, leaving multiple messages with no call backs or resolution. I also reached out to Target, where I purchased it, asking for a refund since the product and support have been terrible, but they have refused to help. Very unhappy overall. I will never buy another Breville product or make a purchase like this from Target again.

Second Machine!
I had my first barista express, and it lasted seven years! I’ve easily made over 5000 drinks on this machine until it started shorting out because of some kind of leak inside. Breville give me a heavy discount on another machine so I bought it instantly. Fantastic Machine and I will continue to buy them.

Never gets to espresso range
Never gets to espresso range. I’ve tried everything from descaling, cleaning throughly, using different beans, different grind settings. Just never gets to range or it brews legit less than 1/2 and ounce of espresso.

Poor machine
The machine wasn’t working properly. It started leaking from the water tank side, which made it messy and hard to use. Definitely disappointing considering the price.

New Barista Express machine
It's been a few weeks using the new Barista Express. I've used a similar Breville machine that lasted over 15 years without being serviced. But, this new Barista Express runs well. I like the built in grinder that's not to loud. When I do 2 shots...the machine is a bit louder than I would have expected, but it doesn't wake anyone up...lol :-)
