Q: Can I place the ceramic insert model SCR450-S directly on my gas stove to cook food in outside of the slow cooker? I understand I can place in oven and microwave but how about on flames?

Q: How will I know if the crockpot is on? This particular one does not have any light to indicate it.
A: Look at the knob to verify the setting. I cook most of my food on low and never turn the knob off.

Q: DOES THIS CROCK P0T HAVE A TIMER TO SHUT OFF OR DOES IT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF ANYTIME?
A: Hey there, Deedee! Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your question. This manual slow cooker does not have a timer and cannot be set to turn off automatically. Once you turn the slow cooker on, it stays on until you shut it off. This product is manually operated with a control knob and must be manually switched to Warm or Off when cooking is completed. Q: I have a 6 quart crock pot and whether I choose low or high, the food is always overcooked. I cook for myself so maybe I'm not putting enough food in? What size would you recommend for one person that would generate 4-5 portions?
A: Crock-Pot has dramatically increased the temperature of the heating element from what it was years ago, presumably due to worries about food-borne illness. It is very difficult to cook properly with modern slow cookers. I would recommend you scour garage sales for older models, which cook much more reliably.

Q: What is the insert made of? Can it be used to warm food in a glass container?
A: Hey there! Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your question. The stoneware of your slow cooker is made of ceramic and covered with a glaze. The glaze of our ceramic pots is a silicate made of quartz, feldspar, and clay. Reheating is not recommended. However, please be advised that the stoneware is microwave safe and oven proof, up to 400°F. You may place the food directly on the stoneware, however, we do not recommend placing a glass container into the stoneware for the safety purpose and proper functioning of the unit.
