Love this watch!
I already had the Epix Gen 2 but decided to upgrade to the Epix Pro Gen 2 and I am glad I did. This Pro version has a lot more features that I am really enjoying using. The Epix Gen 2 is a great watch, also, but the Pro is so much better.

I have been using my Epix Pro 2 for 2 years now and couldn't imagine not having it. I use it more then my phone, I know I need my phone for it to work properly, but I absolutely love this watch. So glad I dumped my iwatch for the Garmin

Good features but disappointing reliability
really liked the features, design, and display of the Epix Pro (Gen 2), but unfortunately, my experience hasn’t been great. The first unit I bought got completely bugged and became unusable after a short time. Garmin replaced it, but the second one also developed a hardware issue — the Start/Stop button stopped working properly. For a watch at this price, I expected much better reliability. When it works, it’s an amazing watch for sports and everyday use, but these problems made it frustrating to own.

I have been wearing Garmin watches for 20+ years...all great, but the Epix Pro Sapphire is the best yet! Full features in an activity monitor, tracker, and coach...and the watch spotlight feature is super convenient and a great tool that I didn't expect to use when I bought it. Training and tracking are simple and very accurate...sleep monitor has become essential for monitoring my overall health and planning the activities for the day. Overall, I have had this for a year and would highly recommend the investment!

working well for me during hiking/rucking. visibility much improved with smoked. using same gearmin3 watch face . improved hiker app. hiking with max gps accuracy will eat up battery but worth it for me for accurate daily mountain trail rucking workouts. love the wake alarm morning report for weather/ temps during fall shoulder season.

Great upgrade from Instinct
This was an upgrade from an instinct whose battery had officially worn out, there are so many functions that are useful for not only health tracking, but also just generally useful. As someone who spends time hiking in the remote wilderness at least twice a month the built-in mapping is a huge plus. That and golf features is a win win

I have had this watch about 1 1/2 years it is a great motivator for exercise, hiking, intensity minutes and achieving preset goals! Also the sleep feature is very helpful as is the HRV, training readiness and VO2max features! I am basically tied to my Epix Pro watch and would be lost without it!!

Golf app keeps crashing
I wanted the epix pro for all activities but especially golf. When I'm playing about 2 hours into 18 holes it will reload the map and yardages. I lose all of my information and have to change it to the hole I'm on and restart. Not good. Not good at all.

Hope you are having a good weekend! That does sound odd with the Golf activity restarting, I would recommend if you have not already checked to make sure the watch is up to date with software. Afterwards, you can power the watch off and on. This clears the cache. Music not great
You cannot add your own personal playlist to listen without your phone. You can only add pre-made playlists created by Amazon, Spotify, etc. No one wants to listen to songs they didn't choose.

Very good watch and a rival to the Fenix Version
I purchased this watch to upgrade from an aging Fenix 3HR. I initially had concerns about the watch's capability in light of the recently released Fenix 8 Pro models. I also had concerns about battery life given this was an older generation using an OLED touchscreen. Battery has not been an issue so far. I have been presently surprised by this watch. It is light years ahead of my Fenix 3HR. I purchased it on a 50% off sale in October of 2025, this being a model released originally in 2023. The software is intuitive and easy to manage. The amount of data collection is also fantastic. I train in multiple sports, mostly as cross-training for inline speed skating over marathon distance. This does everything my Fenix 3HR did, but better. I have been recently dealing with some blood pressure trouble, so this, paired with the Connect App, has helped document relevant metrics like sleep, exercise, recovery time, body battery, pulsOx, HRV, and aFib (just to be safe). The stress score is a nice touch, too, so I can monitor how I am doing day to day. If you are upgrading from an older watch, want newer features, but don't want the newest price tag, this is a fantastic option. My only issue is that the OLED screen turns off when not "in use" so sometimes I have to shake my hand to get the screen to wake up. There is an always on option, but it reduces the batter life from 3 weeks to 1. I don't mind dealing with a little more movement to get the extra battery life.

The Garmin upgrade
I've had the forerunner since 2015 and bought the Epix Pro when it was in sale. I love the screen (easier to read) and all the workout options. I even use the light about 2 or 3 times a week. Overall, I'm luvin' it.
