Q: Is it good for relaxing hair?

submitted by Brownie - 2 years ago
  • A: Hello! John Frieda's Precision Foam Colour is a foam hair color that locks in salon-quality color and freshness, and not a relaxer product. Please call us with other questions at 800-521-3189.

submitted byJohnFriedaExpert - 2 years ago
  • A: Hey, Coloring your hair right after this type of treatment can easily over process, over lighten, or make your hair more susceptible to damage. We recommend waiting two weeks between your chemical treatment and coloring your hair. For real-time answers to all your beauty questions, use the “Chat with a Virtual Beauty Consultant” button on any beauty product page.

submitted byYesenia - 2 months ago

Q: Hi I have dark long brown hair with gray hairs and I would like to know if this product is going to be burning or have that strong smell like other ones? I am looking at the espresso color.

submitted by Butterflybelle23 - 4 years ago
  • A: No burning & the smell is lighter than most. But beware, these products pull red VERY easily. Even the ones advertised as B or G.

    submitted byDallus67 - 4 years ago
  • A: Hello Butterflybelle23! This hair color does have a strong scent. As far as reactions go, we recommend conducting a patch test to be sure, before applying all over. Hope this is helpful!

Q: My hair is pretty blond. I need to dye my whole hair brown for a play. Will 4N dark natural brown give me the look I’m searching for?

submitted by Maeve - 5 years ago
  • A: Do NOT go with the BG! You will most definitely end up with a red tint!!

    submitted byDallus67 - 4 years ago
  • A: We recommend checking on the back of the box in the photos to see the shade guide. This will help you determine which shade should appear over your current color. You can also give our hair experts a call at 800-521-3189 for additional assistance!

Q: Hello is this product safe for natural chemical free african american hair? I do not want a product that will straighten my hair. Want to keep my curl pattern. Thanks

submitted by Kay - 8 months ago
  • A: Great question Kay! Some may see an impact, some may not. Hair treatments relying on a chemical reaction (permanent color, relaxing, perming) could impact curl pattern depending on the person, hair type, and product use.

Q: My hair looks like Yellow, the roots are salt and pepper, and I want to get like a medium brown caramel color. Which tone should I use?

submitted by Ana - 9 months ago
  • A: Hi there! We strongly suggest visiting a stylist who can see your hair and its texture to provide guidance on the right Precision Foam Color shade for you.

Q: hi, I am trying to tone down my hair. I usually bleach it once a year. is this semi- permanent or permanent? I don't want it to last forever as it will be an issue bleaching my hair next time .

submitted by Sumaya - 1 year ago
  • A: Hey Sumaya, Great question! The John Frieda Precision Foam Colour is a permanent Hair Color formula that penetrates strands for deep color saturation. If you are looking for temporary results, we would recommend looking into a toning gloss or a semi-permanent hair dye instead! Q: if my hair is red and want my hair black again will this work

submitted by Simonee - 2 years ago
  • A: Hey, Great question! he John Frieda Precision Foam Colour is a long-lasting, anti-fade formula gives you confidence in your blue black shades and is the best hair color at home for 100% coverage of any unwanted colors. Q: I recently dyed I my hair color burgundy can I lighten it with this product? I'm afraid it could turn purple.

submitted by Nina - 2 years ago
  • A: Thank you for asking! Your current hair color will influence your final result. We recommend selecting a shade no more than 2 shade levels away from your current color. Please refer to the Shade Guide on the side of the box and pictured in the listing for more information on how to pick the right product for your hair. Additionally, Precision Foam Color does not have the ability to lighten hair that has already been color treated. Specifically, 2A is a highly depositing product that will deposit darker color on burgundy hair. If your hair was originally blonde, then the blue-black and burgundy could potentially look purple, but if your hair was dark (brown/black) to begin with, the blue-black and burgundy will probably not result in looking purple. If you have additional questions, please feel free to give us a call at 800-521-3189.

Good application process and even color that matched the description, but it did not have 100% gray coverage that it claims. I'm in my 20's with just a few small grays around my hairline and it didn't even cover those (with heavy handed application at my roots too) so I can't imagine this will cover anyone's grays.

I want to like it bc it’s advertised as easier and precise but it’s opposite for me. It’s always way messier than the other hair dyes like Garnier or even L’Oréal and it does not cover my blonde roots. It slightly darkens some and doesn’t color the ones around my face at all and I left it on for 45 minutes. The plus is it doesn’t stain your skin but it doesn’t dye your hair either 🤷🏻♀️ Go with the cheaper ones with the brush! Better coverage

Don't throw away your money. It will bother you with a very strong smell and eye irritating chemicals. I was so surprised and washed it off as soon as I applied it to my hair. I'm totally upset with this.

This exceeded all of my expectations! This is way easier to use in a traditional liquid dye. Instructions are super clear, and the colour is great. It also comes with a conditioner you use once a week to help lengthen the color which was a nice surprise. I get six weeks out of this. It definitely fades after the first wash but then it is pretty much the same the rest of the time.

I’m going gray in the roots, but my hair was also 3 different colors and felt awful. Had gray roots, my dulled out natural ash brown, and then my ends were reddish brown from the sun getting to my hair. I put this dye in today, and my hair doesn’t “feel” (if you’re familiar with box dye, you’ll know what I mean lol) and it doesn’t SMELL like dye which is awesome!! My hair is evenly covered everywhere and looks so full and voluminous and overall better!! I still need a trim, and still need to repair my hair but the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette in ‘Med Natural Brown’ looks beautiful and is my new go to dye for covering my roots 🥰 (and nope, I’m not paid or a bot, just a 30yo momma who can’t afford a salon every 3 months lol)

Color did not turn out bad I used the dark brown. However after I washed it out my hair felt so dry and it did not feel soft at all. It felt as if there was the greasy filament on my hair I’ve washed my hair three times and it still feels like that!!

After trying both L’Oréal and Garnier, I’m happy to finally have found a red-brown shade that works for me! I tried the 4R Dark Red Brown color and am very happy overall. I was scared about trying the foam but turns out it was very easy to apply and doesn’t leak or drip. I was also scared that the color wouldn’t distribute evenly, but again it was easier than expected and the final result is amazing. My natural level 3 wavy/curly dark brown hair didn’t feel as dry as it does after other brands. The color is truly a rich dark brown with red highlights. It did cover my grays, however the grays didn’t get quite as dark as the box shows. This doesn’t bother me though as I don’t have many and I like that it actually adds a bit of dimension this way. Overall I highly recommend!

Horrible product. Description on the box doesn’t warn about not suitable for hair tested with keratine. On the pamphlet just say not to be use on recently relaxed hair. I got my treatment over a month ago and this product just ruined it. And it doesn’t cover grays at all. Very strong smell, it made my eyes water a bit even though am not sensitive to this type of products.

Application was the best part, but that was the only pro for me. I used 2 boxes for my long, thick hair. It looked fine probably until about the 3rd wash (I usually wash 2x/week) and then all of my greys started coming through. I had to touch up my roots again with another dye maybe 3 weeks or so later, so unfortunately this was a miss for me but im sure it could work for other people.

Even after reading all the reviews saying it was making people’s hair fall out i gave it a shot & I shouldn’t have. It has so much ammonia & it’s so damaging it broke off bits of my hair & even if it doesn’t end up breaking yours off it is still SUPER damaging. Try at your own risk but it’s not worth it.

Anarazu - 3 months ago, Verified purchaser
There are some pros and cons to this product. I have used John Frieda hair dye years ago and I’ve always had a good experience. The foam application was super simple, not as much color bleeding during rinsing as with typical box dyes, no staining. Awesome… except that when I was rinsing the color out, clumps of hair began falling down to the shower floor. It was something I hadn’t experienced prior and it was frightening. I’m not talking about typical hair fallout during shampooing, cause everyone gets that. Actual large clumps began to fall on their own just from the water coming down on my head. Due to the amount of hair lost during the rinse I will never use this product again. It was unnatural. My hair feels a lot thinner on the top after using this dye. Unfortunate because the color was gorgeous, however not long lasting as even after one wash with sulfate free and color safe shampoo I can see my grays again and the color has faded. I would not recommend this product to anyone and will never use again.
