It brews the K-Cup pods the way any other Keurig brewer brews them, but since it only brews at a 2oz size, it is a more concentrated, stronger cup of coffee that resembles the flavor and roast of a classic espresso beverages. A: Do you need a filter for this machine

A: I used Starbucks Italian Roast k-pods and it was VERY strong like espresso.

A: I used the Cafe Bustelo Espresso K-pods and I can't tell that it's not a real espresso.

To determine if a pod is a genuine Keurig K-Cup pod, look for the Keurig logo on the outside of the pod box and on the pod lid. A: The K-Café Special Edition cannot froth and heat water at the same time. While the brewer is heating, the frother cannot be turned on. Once heated, you will be able to choose the "Shot" button while your milk is frothing. Hope this is helpful!
