Q: Glass filter that holds the charcoal filter it's not in box with coffee maker

submitted by Carlie - 1 month ago
  • A: Purchasing the $15 water filter kit will help minimize scale build-up, and prolong pump life. I have absolutely no idea why Keurig decided not to include these with the initial purchase.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 4 days ago
  • A: Keurig used to include in-reservoir filter kits, recommending that the charcoal filter be replaced every two months. Now you have to buy the filter kit separately, which retails for about $15.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 3 days ago
  • A: The K-Duo coffee maker is compatible with the Keurig Short Handle Water Filter Starter Kit, however, it is sold separately. This is an optional accessory and not required in order to use the coffee maker. We hope this helps!

Q: Why didn’t this come with the charcoal filter attachment?

submitted by Paulb - 5 months ago
  • A: An excellent question. The $15 filter kit is required for using charcoal filters. Filtering water reduces the rate of scale build-up and helps to prevent premature pump failure.

submitted bySoutheast Kansas Dave - 4 days ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. The K-Duo coffee maker is compatible with the Keurig Short Handle Water Filter Starter Kit; however, this is an optional accessory and is sold separately. We hope this helps!

Q: Is a filter required?

submitted by Lynda - 6 months ago
  • A: Keurig did recommend changing the charcoal filter after two months or 40 gallons. They no longer include a filter holder with your initial purchase and no longer recommend filter change intervals.

Q: Is there a power button on/off since I don’t want it to be on “keep warm” for two hours if all the coffee has been used from carafe? Do we always have to unplug if from the outlet to turn it off before 2 hours is up? Tnx

submitted by MelySA - 9 days ago
  • A: Once the brew is complete, the heating plate will automatically turn on and remain on for 2 hours - the CARAFE button will illuminate red. To turn off the heating plate, press and hold the CARAFE button until the light is no longer illuminated. We hope this helps!

Q: Can I remove a part where k-cups go into and buy Keurig reusable one where I can add my own type of coffee?

submitted by MelySA - 12 days ago
  • A: Thanks for your question. The K-Duo coffee maker is compatible with the Keurig My K-Cup Universal Reusable Coffee Filter for the single serve option, which is designed to be used with your own ground coffee. Hope this helps!

Q: Has the coffee pot issue been fixed with this model? Where all the glass pots spill coffee all over the place due to poor design?

submitted by UJB6595 - 5 months ago
  • A: If you're describing how the carafe lid swings open when the carafe is tipped past 90-degrees, I don't believe this issue has been corrected as of yet.

The Keurig K Duo Gen 2 is Keurig’s newest addition to its lineup, refreshing features and design from their first gen. It’s a great concept, to have the carafe brewer side for larger gatherings with multiple people, or the single serve k-cup side when by yourself or on the go. It comes with an ample 72oz reservoir, as well as options for brewing size from 6c to 12c on the carafe side, to 6oz-12oz on the k-cup side. Overall, build quality feels solid, but the finish lacks a bit, not feeling quite as polished with an unassuming look, which may be preferable to some. When testing the actual brewing function of the maker, the k-cup side functions well enough. It has an appreciated “x-hot” option, for those the like they joe piping hot, as well as a “strong” selection, so it brews slower and stronger with a more profound flavor, and even an iced button for cold brews. That is where any positives stops, unfortunately, because when looking at the carafe side, there are no such options. Though, it does have a warming plate to keep brewed coffee hot for up to 2hrs, as well as an auto brew feature, but that is a bit of a nuisance to set up each day, as it keeps the time in memory, but you must confirm it and the size each time. The woes don’t stop there, though. When it comes to brewing capacity, it will serve its function, but the quality just isn’t there of the actual brewed coffee. It tastes very weak, even if you overload the filter, wasting grounds to help achieve a stronger brew. The water dripper on the top is centrally located and confined to a small space, meaning grounds don’t get properly saturated on the outer edges, not to mention it brews very fast, which you would think is good, but it doesn’t allow proper time for the brew to steep. Ultimately, it produces a very weak and unsatisfying brew. For me, this is a deal breaker, as that renders the carafe portion useless, as there are no options to adjust it whatsoever. Very disappointing for a $200 machine, especially when it’s the second generation.

I absolutely love this brewer and would still highly recommend it. I've had it only two months and have used it only a handful of times in the past two months. This morning, it completely died on me. No power at all. I called Keurig and went through the troubleshooting steps. I'm still under warranty, so now I'm awaiting the next steps in hopefully getting a new one. I don't know if this has happened to anyone else. I still want this brewer, though, because it is awesome and so easy to use.

I recently purchased this K-Duo Gen 2 coffee maker. I like the fact that one machine can do Carafe coffee, but also single serve k cups. It has the multi stream feature, that brews a much more flavorful cup of coffee, compared to the older single needle brewers. It is also able to brew a full pot using the carafe. It is very easy to set up and operate. My only suggestions for improvement would be to make the carafe and grounds basket dishwasher safe, and to make the height of the single serve about 1/2" taller. That would allow a 32 oz "Yeti" style mug to fit in order to make iced tea.

Design looks nice, but brew temperature for carafe is not hot enough to actually brew, coffee always seems oily, unpleasant. If you want to cut back on the amount of coffee you drink, this machine will help. The kpod side is tolerable, but we've just gone back to our old drip maker this was supposed to replace.

I love my gen 2 Duo. Having the option to go single serve or brew a whole pot is excellent. Also having the ability to brew over ice makes this machine the best one for me. All that's needed to complete this ensemble is frother. Don't forget to grab your re-usable filters for the pot and k-cup (if you desire).
