  • A: Thank you for your question. Mucinex® Children’s Cough and Chest Congestion orange crème Mini-Melts™ contain guaifenesin and dextromethorphan. Guaifenesin is not known to cause drowsiness. Dextromethorphan has been shown to produce drowsiness in some patients. The product cannot be considered non-drowsy due to the inclusion of dextromethorphan. For any additional questions, you may wish to consult with your health care provider.

Q: My child is autistic and has a sensory problem with taste, I have previously mixed this with the white filing of the Oreo which works however I wanted to know if I can put this in water instead

    Didn't work and made her sicker

    Gave it to child and she started exhibiting stomach cramps and bathroom issues. The cough didnt go away either. Cough still remained and now we have another thing making her miserable.

    Not really for a child in my opinion

    I would not recommend this for children. My year old granddaughter would not let me pour it into her tongue, When I did get her to put it on her tougue she spit it all out at me! I thought it was a melting tablet when it was described as mini melts.if you put them in juice they do not disolve.

    Get this if your kids do not like the taste of medicines!

    We love this medication it’s easy for my kids to take and doesn’t taste bad. My kids will not take any liquid or chews of Mucinex but will take these! Glad to get the effectiveness of the medication to my kids in an easy way that I don’t have to fight my kids to take!

    Incredible

    As a 30-something, I simply cannot handle the taste or texture of cough syrup. Dextromethorphan also tends to make me feel like I’m dying. I picked up this medicine for myself so I could easily take a smaller dose (I took 2 packets per dose) and i think it worked well. Taste-wise, this was great! It is imperative that you or your child do NOT chew it in any way shape or form. You will feel every impulse to chew it but you’ve got to resist. If you follow that instruction, which means you’ll be swallowing some undissolved little balls of the medicine, you won’t have any bitter taste at all.

    The kids actually will take this and not give any pushback. They don’t like the liquid medicines but will take this and I feel it helps their cough a lot. I do not enjoy the artificial sweeteners however so hope they fix that

    It works great for children who cannot swallow pills, and cannot stand the taste of the liquid over-the-counter cold & cough symptom relievers and our family has used it for at least the past 5 🤔 years, I think. Perfect for on the go; school, vacation, camp, etc.

    It works. It's easy for big boys to take it without water

    It worked very well with my son.a few days ago, he started to form mucus that he threw up bcz of the mucus. I got this to try them. After one day, he started to feel better . It also tastes good. You can also put it in your purse or backpack and take it when needed

    Bring back the bubblegum mini melts

    I recently bought this because I couldn’t find the bubblegum mini melts that my kids love. This is ok, but my kids hate it. They gag at the flavor and the taste. Bring back the bubblegum mini melts without the other junk in it.

    Disopve dont chew

    The granule packets are not intended to be chewed. They are dissolvable. Pour on the child’s tongue and let it dissolve a little. Then swallow and swoosh mouth with water or juice. They do help with congestion and lessen the cough. The cough can take about 3 good days with consistently taking the packets throughout the day. It helps form my child who will not take liquid medicines.
