This item really is gross because even if you just dab on a cold sore in your mouth, it will literally numb your entire tongue and your tongue is not even there just from like you’re saliva swallowing and stuff. It will literally just make your whole entire mouth, numb and it’s really horrible tasting, and it does not help with itchy gums.

Buys you some short term comfort
I regularly get canker sores because of dental work. While this does not medicinally help the healing process, the numbing definitely makes the days pass quicker as it heals on its own. If i don’t eat or drink it can last as long as an hour. Half an hour if I do eat and drink. If you’ve ever had a topical cream applied at the dentist before they give you a gum injection, it’s essentially that. People are right that it can travel down your mouth and numb other parts, so hold your mouth open for a bit after you apply to get it settled on the sore, then spit a few times after you shut your mouth to rinse the excess. It’s definitely very short term, but it’ll save your sanity for a little while.

I made the mistake of thinking this would be the best thing for my mouth sore. Not for me. It's diffcult to put on and it makes areas you don't want medicated go numb like your tongue. Pretty much everything except the actual sore itself. It also had white remaining residue left over in my mouth. It just didn't work for me. I ended up getting poraxyl mouthwash and it was so much easier to use and it was more effective.

Kanka is better for canker sores
I much prefer Kanka as it lasts longer but they didn't have it in store so I tried this on a canker sore. Very temporarily relief, must re-apply often for it to help. I wouldn't purchase again.

Why did I wait to so long to try Orajel?!
I enjoy all the "no-no" spicy acidic foods that can trigger mouth sores, and I suffer the consequences with canker sores that come on like a raging fire. The last one I had was so incredibly painful because it was in an area on my tongue that rubs against my teeth when I talk. My husband had longed begged me to try Orajel but for whatever reason, I thought "No meds, I'll just get through it with warm water & salt." He finally had enough of my nonsense and just went and bought it. So for the record: I am DUMB because just a little dab of Orajel and I had instant relief. It was a Wow! moment. Why did I wait so long to try this? Please don't be dumb like me and get relief for your mouth sore pain right now!!

Unclear directions for different ages
Confusing directions. Instructs for “adults and children over 2” to take up to 4 times and also for “children between 2 and 12” to consult a doctor. Am I missing something?
