  • A: I purchased this iron based on the answer to this question but after finding that it was accidentally left on all day in my home, I’ve discovered on Black & Decker’s website that this model DOES NOT have auto off. I would not have purchased if I had known this. Would not recommend due to the safety concern.

  • A: Thank you for your question, Feng. This iron features a 3-way automatic shutoff. Movement usually resets the iron to begin heating but some irons have a reset button. Please note that the iron is still “ON” or in the standby mode until you actually turn it off and unplug the iron. The handle of the iron will remain warm since the iron is still drawing current and the electronics are still working (energized). Only the sole plate is cold.

Runs hot and damages clothing

I like that this iron has control dials instead of squishy buttons. However, it is not tuned properly. It has now burned three separate clothing items of mine. They were all 100% cotton and the iron was on the cotton setting-- except for the last one, where I set the iron far below the cotton setting, and it still singed the material. An iron that damages your clothes is not acceptable.

Don’t do it. The first one I bought didn’t heat up, I figured it was a fluke and for the price was willing to try again. The second one (from a different location) didn’t turn on at first either but then it did which was good, until it also started leaking water out the iron plate uncontrollably.

I purchased this iron in the past. I never had any problems. Time has come to purchase a new one. Every single one I purchased and ordered within one week has issues; water reservoir does not close, scratches on the plastic, soleplate spots that cannot be removed, etc. Extremely disappointing. I will have to start looking at other brandnames. However, finding a lightweight iron is difficult.

I returned mine, as it did not seem to get hot enough. It was easy to fill the reservoir with water, and felt like it should have been great but it never got hot enough to make steam.

I ironed a few clothes and with off the them it is super hard to move the iron across the surface of the clothes. If you use force to move it it creases it and damages the clothes. Do not waste your money on this garbage. Instead invest in a General Electric iron which is way better.

This iron is the worst. It sticks to everything no matter what the setting. Water pours out of it. Thought I would try something different than Rowenta. Not even close in quality. Hamilton Beach also has a better one. Stay away from this one.
