Here’s a clear, balanced review you can use: The water softener salt arrived on time and the delivery itself went smoothly, which I appreciated. However, the packaging was not in good condition. Two of the bags appeared to have been taped closed, which raised some concerns about how they were handled prior to delivery. Although I accepted the order and the driver reassured me they were likely fine, the condition of the bags was not what I expected. As shown in the photo, they were not delivered in proper, original condition. Overall, the delivery timing was great, but the packaging quality needs improvement.

Not a product issue this is a Target Employee Issue
One bag was delivered to my vehicle ripped open. I waited an extra 10 min to have these brought out after the rest of my order (that had milk and chicken in it) and the associate is like “the bag is ripped, do you want me to go get another one?” I needed to get my order home but the associate saw the bag was ripped open, loaded it anyway and hoped I wouldn’t make him go replace it after waiting 10 min longer than the rest of my order. Target needs to do better!!!

No hard water build up, but heavy bags
Last year, we moved into a house with a softener system. Not knowing anything about softeners, we did some research and talked to a few water companies and plumbers about what to use - The blue bag softener crystals was recommended over the yellow bag. We know it’s doing it’s job since hard water starts to build up whenever the salt’s run out. We’ll be setting a reminder to order more bags every 6 weeks. Warning - the bags are heavy! My husband got a hernia while lifting one of the 40 lb bags improperly. Since then, we use Target drive up so we don’t have to carry the bags. I cut the bags open while still in the trunk and scoop out cup fulls until the bag is light enough to carry to the softener. Wish they came in smaller packages!

Naturally derived solar salt is better for your body. Albeit, the more specialized salt formulations may have added benefits in terms of appliance longevity and rust removal, but with two small children in my house having the purest water available is paramount. This salt can be hard to find, so it is convenient Target keeps it in stock. I purchased using the Target app 'Drive-Up' function and a team member brought it out to my car, which is a plus. Gone are the days of lugging those 40lb bags through the store and out to the car - Hooray for technology!
