submitted byTiffany - 8 years agoA: It is not "alcohol free", but natural grain alcohol is the only alcohol it contains. It is usually a derivative from natural/essential oils and is not harmful for skin and has no irritants.

If you want alcohol free, buy the "Gentle Balance Toner" of this brand. The label says "alcohol free". It has a purple lid. I use 100% witch hazel and even though it has 14% natural alcohol, it does not sting or dry out my face. It is not like rubbing alcohol.

A: It’s exactly the same. I used Dickinson witch hazel for decades and when they started to get cute with packaging the identical product in different packaging I started buying the store brand of which hazel which is also identical.

A: It does have a natural smell from the ingredients (as opposed to being artificially perfumed), and I do feel it's kind of pungent. But it doesn't stick around, and it's a smell you'll get used to as you use the product.

I was looking for an all natural product and didn't realize it had a percentage of "natural grain alcohol" in it. It would have been better without the alcohol, however it does the job to replace what I'm out of. The alcohol does cause a little dryness instead of restoring the moisture. It has a better affect when placed in refrigerator.

While I like the pink label version from this brand better because it's more hydrating & smells better, the price point on the yellow one is too good. Cruelty Free Forever Toner
I like this toner a lot. I have been using it for years and makes my face feel clean and makeup free when I apply it. Later throughout the years, I gained more conscious about animals that get horribly tested in labs and decided to change everything I buy starting off from my hygiene and cosmetics and was amazing to find that this brand is one of the few cruelty free items Ive been using without knowing it. I've been using this for 10 years, and I won't go back. I've used it all from high end to drugstore, only to be left with driex out skin, and huge, painful breakouts. I came across this ten years ago, and this stuff just works. My skin is oily, sensitive and breaks out, and this stuff just combats that. This stuff is sorcery!

I like the Dickinson brand and have used this in the past. It does work well but it is a bit drying for my skin due to the alcohol. I combat this by using a non-alcoholic toner afterwards then my moisturizer.
