Siding clips are commonly made from stainless steel, polypropylene (PP), and various plastics.
They attach in three common ways: by sliding under or onto vinyl siding, by clipping onto shingles, gutters, eaves or railings, and by sticking to surfaces with outdoor adhesive strips.
Many siding clips are weatherproof or weather-resistant. Some are water- and UV-resistant and rated to withstand rain, snow, sleet and heat, while others note cold and UV resistance for winter and summer use. Check individual product specifications for exact ratings.
Wipe the mounting surface clean of dirt and debris, apply the adhesive clip per the product instructions, wait about an hour after installation before hanging lights, and remove adhesive strips by pulling them straight down. Replacement adhesive strips allow reuse.
Some adhesive clips remove cleanly without leaving residue and can be reused when you replace the adhesive strips; plastic or metal gutter and shingle clips are typically weather-resistant and reusable for seasonal use.
