  • A: It's the 9th ingredient on the list so I would say there's the right amount of retinol in this. Not too little, but not too overbearing for the most sensitive of skins.

    Hard on sensitive skin

    I bought this product 2 weeks ago and used it twice and now have a burn on face. I do have sensitive skin and knew that some retinols can cause some minor skin irritation. I still have the burn on the face and has caused quite a lot of skin peeling.

    this retinyl serum saved my skin!

    I bought this serum this spring to try out after the previous serum I was trying caused horrible acne breakouts and closed comedones. I always come back to Honest products! my skin immediately calmed down and felt smoother within the first week of use. This retinyl serum is super gentle and helped purge out all the clogged pores and comedones i had, my purging lasted around 2 months, and in the 3rd month most of the pimples/comedones i had were gone. I only have two tiny white heads left and they're cycling out very nicely! my face is smoother, softer and much more evenly toned, i don't have any redness anymore! i use 1-2 pumps of this serum 5 nights a week with the Honest hydrogel cream layered on top at night, they work very well together. it also works well with the Honest calm porefect serum. absolutely love! this is now my holy grail serum. definitely worth trying!

    Unpleasant odor and retinyl is synthetic

    When I bought this I thought that "retinyl" was just a clever way to name a product with retinol. As it turns out it is actually a a synthetic form of vitamin A that's used in many skincare products even though it is not deemed to be actually effective. Additionally, it has an unpleasant odor. For both these reasons I won't be buying it again.

    Satisfied

    I love this serum; it’s my night time go to. My skin didn’t have any reaction to it and it made my skin feel moisturized. At first I was skeptical because its not a thick moisturizer type of cream; its a serum. It absorbs into my skin well without any residue. Only thing I wish is that it came in a larger size because it’s expensive for 1 fl oz.

    Absorbs quickly

    This has a nice texture that soaks into your face quickly. It’s not sticky or tacky like other serums. I’ve been using it for two weeks now and it doesn’t make my face dry and itchy like other retinyls. It’s too soon to see any decrease in wrinkles, so far it’s been easy to add into my nightly face cleaning routine.

    Warning

    I bought this product in November and by December it caused such a horrible reaction that I needed to go to the dermatologist. The retinol in this product was so harsh causing my skin to burn. I have never had this kind of issue before with any other company’s products. I will never be buying anything from this company again. Save yourself the headache and the stress of damaging your skin with this poorly made product.

    Good Product

    It definitely doesn’t moisturize but it has made my skin smoother I’m only 22 so I wasn’t looking for a retinol and this is a good substitute.

    Gentle on the skin

    Retinol and other products (i.e., face scrubs/peels) tend to be harsh on the skin, so I searched for products that help your skin just w/o the harshness of it. I'm so glad that I came across this product because it's very gentle!! Truly a perfect addition to any skincare routine.

    Gentle and super effective!

    I was super scared to start using retinoids, but this one was super gentle on my skin, with no irritation whatsoever. At the same time, I was able to see results with only a couple of applications, the texture of my skin gets better every time I use it and it helped with my acne.

    Amazing Product for Sensitive Skin!

    I love this serum! I have extremely sensitive skin and eyes and most often discontinue using products due to face and eyes burning. The only reactions have been positive ones. What I love about this product: Excellent choice for extremely sensitive skin! Makes my face feel soooo soft and smooth My skin looks great without makeup! Great choice for mature skin. Clean scent! Reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Wears well morning and night and with or without lotion.

    Buy it you wont regret (: !! Loving my skin with this product !

    So I bought this on Tuesday it’s Friday I’ve been using it every night after I shower and I’m so happy I ended up getting it because my face feels so much softer . I have really textured skin and I was hating how my face was feeling when I touched it . But now I’m loving it . I use a serum after and a pm moisturizer. Now I’m on the hunt for a spf for the daytime . I wish honest beauty made one . That way I can trust it . I’m new to skincare but I’m loving this product . (:

    Great night serum! Smoothing out my lines!

    Bought this a few weeks ago and started using at night in place of the old Honest night serum. I can honestly say how in love I am with this product! It smooths out my skin so well and I swear it’s already evening out my frown lines! I will wait a few more weeks to see if it’s true and will come back to review! Love these products!

    This Retinyl Serum goes on smooth absorbs quickly and feels great. Love the twist up and down retractable nozzle. Gave 4 stars because of the bottle that you cannot see through to know how much is actually left. Enjoy all my Honest products!!
