Smells amazing, I’ll give it that. It also helped define my waves, but at such a horrible cost. This shampoo made my hair SO coarse, it felt like straw. It made my hair difficult to brush. I felt like a Brillo pad. I didn’t even finish the bottle, it was so bad. No amount of conditioner or hair masks would soften it. I switched shampoo and conditioner to something else and, thankfully, my hair is back to normal.

dry and shedding more than usual
when i first tried this shampoo/conditioner i really liked how it was enhancing my curls but after a while i noticed it made my hair/scalp very dry and was making me shed like crazy. the conditioner made my hair feel weighed down and greasy instead of nourished. i switched to the cerave moisturizing shampoo and thankfully my hair and scalp are doing much better! no more dry hair or flaky scalp

DO NOT BUY
I was so excited to use this product, and after the first use I liked it a lot, it smelled good, and it was affordable. HOWEVER after about 3 washes I started experiencing itching/redness/inflammation/pain all over my scalp. My head is constantly irritated and my scalp had become so inflamed it was weeping!! In addition to the irritation, my hair has been falling out like crazy. I have NEVER experienced hair loss- especially not to this degree, and so much of my hair has fallen out because of this product. My hair was nice and thick before and I was really hopeful that this product would enhance the natural wave in my hair, and instead it created damage to my hair and scalp which will take a lot of time to heal. Unfortunately, this product is a huge waste of money :( I have since switched shampoos but the damage is pretty significant and long lasting. I do not recommend this product.

Is it cheap? yes Is it worth it? no I wanted to lke this and I have been using it for months, but I feel like my hair is always oily and dull. I am also struggling with dry scalp and brittleness and I think this product is contributing to that.

One use and I could tell my ends are not as dry. I have long hair and its wavy. I have tried a few different products for curly/wavy hair and they have not nourished my hair like Function of Beauty.

Buyer beware
I have never struggled with dry scalp before until I used this product. My head was on fire! I had to return the product. As soon as I switched to a different product, my scalp was back to normal. Only good thing was that it did enhance my curls.

Im loosing my hair!!!!!
Absolutely disgusted with this brand and why in the heck target would still continue to keep this on their shelves I used to have extremely thick beach wave hair my waves were not doing good so I figured why not try a shampoo that is supposed to be specifically for help to waves yeah it didn’t help with that it made my hair frizzy and knotty and unmanageable after months of using this shampoo I have fully started to loose all my hair like I added pictures from before this shampoo vs now this company will definitely have a lawsuit coming there way if I could do anything to stop this brand from selling I would because I feel so bad for anyone who has to go through the insecurity and heartbreak I’m dealing with with my own hair I wish I could give the 0 star reviews

Made hair dirtier
I tried this and it made my hair look and feel dirtier (specifically: darker, greasier, and itchier). I thought, well, it’s my first time using it, and I added some of their boosters, maybe I didn’t shake it well enough, I’ll try again tomorrow. The next day I read the back of the bottle carefully, then did two shampoo washes in a row with this product just to be sure I was getting my hair clean. When it dried my hair was worse than ever: stringy, greasy, and itchy. I paired this with the matching conditioner and I don’t think I have an issue with that. I love the concept of personalized, affordable hair care, but I can’t recommend a product which performs contrarily to its primary function.

Don't do it!
Usually use Not Your Mother's and love it, but I wanted to try this line as I heard it was good. I hadn't seen all the bad reviews before I tried it, and I so wish I had heeded the warnings. It's basic drugstore quality, dried the crap out of my hair - it's never felt so damaged and tangly. The ends were POOF and my roots got so greasy. In my attempt to comb and clump my waves, soooo much hair fell. I made it 3 washes before trashing, super disappointed!!

Hair loss and body acne
BEWARE! Literally made my hair brittle and start breaking off and falling out!! I loved the scent but when I noticed in two weeks enough hair was out of my head to clog my drain (i have a choppy layered above the shoulders haircut), I knew there was a problem. Bought my fiancée the wavy hair one and he was also loosing hair and the formula made him break out across his forehead and the back of his body. Not worth risking your hair over!!

Dont like all the chemicals in it, but i wanted to try it anyway cuz i saw so many good reviews online. Unfortunately I would never recommend this to anyone. Dried out my hair and made it extra frizzy. My waves normally come out just fine and i wanted something with a little more moisture retention. Unfortunately this did exactly the opposite. Hair is now frizzy and dry looking with flyaways everywhere.

I love this product! It really helps with my hair because it is so wild and crazy and it helps tone it down. I also love how it strengthens my hair. My hair looks and feels so much better and more natural. If you are a person that needs healthier and stronger hair this is the product you should get. Can't Keep A Wavy Girl Down
I really love this shampoo! Honestly my hair feels amazing and healthy; I switched from Aveda after I noticed my hair being limp and always dry.
