Nine Stars 3gal Motion Sensor Rectangular Shape Stainless Steel Trash Can Silver: Touchless Kitchen Bin, Quiet Lid

I purchased the nine stars motion detector lid garbage can a couple of years ago. I I purchased it for a bathroom… The dog kept getting into our open garbage can. Yuck. I used it for about six months and realized I needed another one in another bathroom. The dog had moved on to another bathroom. I’ve had that one for probably a year or two. Now I’m buying my third for a third bathroom thanks to the dog. My first two are still going strong! And I think I’ve only changed the batteries once at most. Aside from a quiet whir sound, it is a silent lid. It closes quietly… No snap or bang. I can’t imagine it would wake someone up, even if it was used in the bedroom. Unless they are the world’s lightest sleeper? It keeps pets out and smells in. It’s worth the few extra seconds of time that it takes to change the bag. I have skipped over all the other small garbage cans with lids, and just now want to only buy this brand. Highly recommend!

I have rose gold version of this trash can for my kitchen which has been a kitchen powerhouse. It's perfect capacity for a two-person household’s wet waste (too small for cans, papers etc). Quick summary: • Four years of daily use—thousands of openings—on the original batteries • Zero malfunctions, zero maintenance • Odor-tight - no smells, no pests. This is a small perfect can for cans and bottles to be recycled. Doesn’t fit much, but works for this purpose.

A sensor trash can opens and closes automatically, keeping germs and related filth off your hands. I'd compare it to a TV remote in that once I experienced the convenience of not dealing with a lid and the aesthetics of not having to see (or smell) trash, I can't imagine life without it. This Nine Stars model uses infrared technology to detect motion from a sensor on the lid. It has a quiet whir when opening which shouldn't disturb others, a common complaint with other brands. I find it stays open just long enough to toss something in. If you want to keep it open longer, you can press the on-off button while it's open. Then press it again to close the lid and reactivate the sensor. A light begins flashing almost immediately after opening, warning you it will close in a few seconds. It's design is sleek enough, which is good as it doesn't work in closed spaces. I got this small model for the kitchen, planning on stashing it in the storage area under the sink. Alas, the sensor's range is too long for this. It detects the top of the storage area even at a couple feet away, so it doesn't close automatically. I had a similar issue with the cute and tiny 1,8 gallon water-resistant bathroom model (see image comparison) which always detected the sink bottom. It would be nice to be able to adjust the range or to aim the sensor, as you can on some other brands. The Nine Stars brand supports their sensor cans with parts and bags on their website. Nine Stars recommends 3 gallon drawstring bags for the 3 and 1.8 gallon models, although I've found the Glad 4 gallon drawstring bags Target carries work fine. Nine Stars sensor cans don't have enhanced odor control features like a tight sealing lid, carbon filter, or air cleaning technology found on some other brands. Nor does it operate by voice command or have its own garbage bag dispenser. As mentioned earlier, it's finicky in close spaces. Finally, unless you are of a certain age you may not be familiar with phrase 'Batteries not included’. This item is not usable on its own out of the box, a separate purchase two AA's are required. In this day and age, however, it should have its own rechargeable power anyway.
