Happy with my crystal clear.
It works perfectly and is less noisy that other. The crystal is more strong and it works great. I would prefer the other with the different temperatures but this work great.

Lid does not close and automatic stop does not work
Like others have said, the lid doesn't work, so now it is open all the time. Which, by comparison to other reviews, is the preferable broken position since I can easily refill the kettle. The automatic stop also doesn't work anymore, so have to watch for water to boil. Looks nice though! Design needs some serious work.

Excellent electric kettle
I honestly can't even remember when I purchased this kettle...it's been years already. It's a very reliable worker in my kitchen that is used multiple times each day. Heats extremely quickly. Great capacity which is ideal for making a pour over pot of coffee, and several cups of tea for guests at the same time. I've had no problems with it.

Cord too short.
i just bought my THIRD Crystal Clear Kettle. Obviously I like them. However the new one arrived yesterday with an extremely short cord. After reading the Breville Crystal Clear enclosed booket I discovered that now Breville considers the previously regular length cord to be a Hazard waiting to happen. My kitchen cupboards HANG over my counter top. The previously length cord was good because I could move the kettle away from underneath the cupboards. However now it boils the water directly under the cupboards. Not a good idea as steam will eventually cause quite a problem for me relating to the kitchen cupboards. No...there is nowhere in the kitchen that this kettle can be plugged into away from the cupboards.

Great kettle - poor lid design - gets stuck
I loved the style of the kettle - the glass is elegant and it's nice to be able to see how much water is in the kettle. However, the lid design is poor as it is held by two plastic pins that are rather flimsy - on ours, the pins failed and the lid became stuck and it won't open unless pried open manually. Breville should address this critical design flaw in an otherwise classy kettle. As is, I would not recommend.

Not even remotely as well constructed as my 10 year old kettle
I received this kettle today. I bought it for my office kitchen as I’ve had the same model at home for about 10 years. A couple of things I notice right off the bat is that it feels lighter and not as well made as my trusty kettle bought a decade ago. The on-off switch feels flimsier, and there’s a gap between the bottom of the handle/switch cover that isn’t there on my older kettle. The kettle no longer has the rubberized base like the old one, just some hard plastic pieces that slide around on the countertop vs the older kettle staying put and having a nice dampened reassuring sound and feel when you place it down. The new kettle also shakes on the base as the water inside the kettle comes to a rolling boil, whereas the older kettle is solid and immovable. All in all this kettle feels like a cheap knock-off compared with the original kettle that I bought a decade earlier. It’s just not the same quality at all. I am frankly very disappointed and would never purchase this model again.

Great Kettle
I’ve had this kettle for about 10 years now and never a single issue with it. Maybe I got lucky but it’s been fine for me and I’m an avid tea drinker (originally from England) so it gets plenty of use most days.

Used twice & now stopped working, one week old
Hi, I bought my crystal clear kettle last week. Used it twice and now it's not working. I turn on the boil button but it no longer lights up, does nothing. It just stopped mid-heating today, have more than min water level in it. Please advise

My favorite kettle until its lid wouldn't open.
The lid doesn’t open anymore when the button on the handle is pressed. The lid hinges on 2 plastic posts that taper to 3mm at the spot they are attached to the kettle. That spot looks weak, and that’s where one of the posts snapped. It appears other reviewers had this problem with the lid becoming stuck closed. It’s a shame because I liked this kettle. It looks as good as pricier models, but without extra features I don’t need.

Love the idea but quality could be better
I quite like this kettle due to its BPA-free plastic and overall design. However, the lid doesn’t open/close properly and there seems to be an issue of it turning on every so often so I can’t really use it anymore and wondering if Breville offers a recycling program.

Worked good at the start
The kettle was amazing at the beginning, however, the lid stopped opening. My husband bought another one and it’s doing the same thing. Kettle should last long given its price poin.

Bad zeal
I absolutely loved my tea kettle until the lip seal around the glass started to lift. It’s near impossible to put back and just flairs out.

I really like this kettle, had it for almost two years. The top doesnt open anymore, the hinge broke so I have to use my nails or something to open it and fill it with water. Otherwise, works well

Best glass kettle
Surely the best of the glass kettles. I returned another brand recently because it smelled of plastic. This one is nicely made, it boils quickly, turns itself off, the lid opens "politely" and it's a pleasure to use.

Top Lid Failed BKE595XL
While the kettle functions well for boiling water, the top lid failed after a few years as other reviews documented, clearly a design flaw. There also seems to be no way obvious to replace the lid with a new part from the spare parts listed on the website, a disappointment. Below I checked that I would not recommend this product to a friend based on lid failure.
