Extremely loud, does not cool.

I purchased this ac unit for my tiny bedroom (approx 8ft x 10ft) and it doesn't do any better than my window fan. I put it in at 2pm and im writing this 2:30am- it should be freezing in here. Also, many reviews note that it's quiet... not even a little bit. Because it's a very basic model, it doesn't have any settings so it just runs constantly. It also makes random cracking noises which is quite disconcerting. This is the only ac unit I have ever purchased new and it's the only one I have ever had trouble with. Buyer beware.

Light & easy to set up. *This is definitely a small (tiny) space / room AC. Even w a fan next to it helping to blow the air around, this isn’t going to be a long term AC unit . The vents barely move or adjust. Save your money and buy a better one unless you have no other choice / it’s an emergency.

We were expecting a little more; it does not cool that much. We will have to purchase another one. Even though the room is small, it still doesn’t feel as cold as it promotes.

this is like a cooling fan and im worried about this getting me through the prime summer heat waves... 200 is possibly spent on a better product, i wish i spent 400 on something better before putting 200 down for something that barely can call itself an AC Unit, and for the record my room is 120 sq ft

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I unfortunately broke my ankle really badly early this summer, so I was completely bed-bound for about a month and then still mostly home-bound for the rest of the summer. I usually don't use AC much in the summers because I would rather just go somewhere else for the hottest days, but since that wasn't possible this year, this AC was a lifesaver! Because of my injury, I had to ask my dad and brother to install the AC for me. They complained a lot that the instructions were not good and that it was much harder to assemble and install than it needed to be. They are both generally pretty handy when it comes to this kind of thing, so I believe that it wasn't easy. I was in the other room, but could hear them working on it and it took about an hour. The AC did work well once installed. It kept my large-ish guest room very comfortable on some very hot days. I do think this AC is a bit louder than the one that I have in my own bedroom, but that one is the kind that stands on the floor and has a large pipe that runs out of the window, so it isn't a completely fair comparison. I sleep with a fan on for white noise anyway, so it didn't bother me. I really liked that this window unit doesn't take up so much space in the room. It fit well in my standard sized windows, but for next year I am going to get a stronger bracket/support to mount it on, just for the extra piece of mind. Even with using AC a lot more this summer than in past summers, my electric bill was actually very reasonable. Definitely more than normal, but less than I had prepared myself for!
