Q: This states in multiple places it is gluten free yet in the Specifications section, it states it may contain Wheat. Which is it?

A: This Product is Gluten Free. The term "gluten" refers to proteins that occur naturally in wheat, rye, barley and cross-bred hybrids of these grains. Products that do not contain these grains or derivatives of these grains are naturally gluten-free. Most Watkins products, including gourmet spices, extracts, pepper and grinders are free of these grains, therefore are naturally gluten-free.

A: Watkins Double Strength Vanilla has been replaced with Watkins Baking Vanilla. Both are dark in color.

In the meantime, please note the correct ingredients of the Original Gourmet Baking Vanilla 2 oz. are as follows: Water, sugar, propylene glycol, vanilla extract (water, alcohol, extractive of vanilla beans), alcohol, artificial flavors, fruit juice (color).

While this vanilla does not have the strong vanilla flavor of previous years, it is still a smooth flavor without the sharp alcohol aftertaste of some vanillas. I used an entire bottle in 1.5 gallons of ice cream to achieve a light vanilla flavor. I will be looking d for a stronger vanilla but would consider using this again.

My family had used this vanilla for 3 generations. Unfortunately, the quality since the name change to "Baking Vanilla" has changed. The flavor just is not there anymore.

I use it a lot. I like to put it in my coffee for a no calorie treat. It takes away some of the bitterness of some coffee brands.

First time I found them I knew I was onto something. Never bitter, lots of fragrance I usually rush home to start thinking of all the things I can make. Everyone loves it when they see me get out of my car. Samples of every flavor I've tried. Only bad thing is they expect me to bring them all the time. They are to busy to bake but not to eat. I'm retired and live on a fixed income. Told the help out. Yes, yes, I will but I'm still waiting.

I use vanilla extract weekly with my baking. Since my mom passed away, I have become the family baker. My mother and I used vanilla and vanilla nut in our cakes and now while placing my fall order I discovered that vanilla nut extract has been discontinued. I'm very disappointed!!
