Great results
Smashbox has such a strong reputation, so I was really excited to test this primer. The texture feels smooth and lightweight, and I liked how it applied, but my combination skin needs a formula with a bit more hydration. I think the Photo Blur option may be a better fit for the finish I'm looking for. I received this product for free from Smashbox for testing and review purposes.

Amazing!
I love this product. I have combination skin with more oily areas around my T zone, chin, and nose. I have struggled to find a primer that can keep my skin feeling fresh and looking great, while controlling my breakouts and keeping my face shine free, but now I have. I use it every morning as the start of my makeup routine and I'm super happy with the results. Not only is my face smoother than it's been in a long time, it's feels and looks better too. My favorite primer!
I love my Smashbox Photo Finish Control Mattifying Primer. I have struggled with finding the best products for me to help prep my skin for makeup, assist me with the best makeup application and helping to create a smooth, lasting, natural looking makeup application. I have had difficulties with other primers I've tried, making my foundation smudge or peel off or leaving my finished look as greasy or oily. When I tried this product, it absorbed quickly into my skin, left my skin feeling smooth and mattified as a solid base for foundation and my finished look was what I hope to achieve.

I have been testing this product for for over 2 weeks, I use it everyday and tried it under different formulas of foundation, its a creamy texture and blends into my skin smoothly, not sticky, leaves no residue and has a light fragrance to it. I have oily skin, and this product so far has help control my t zones longer the my usual brand of said oil control primer. I liked the packageing and i will continue use this product and i do recommend giving this one a try if you have oily skin For me its worth the price this was a Smash!... Solid Primer, But Better Options
Smashbox is a well-known brand, so I was excited to try this primer. I like the texture & feel of the product; however, I need a more hydrating formulation for my combination skin. Smoothes texture and fine lines
I am 36 and have never used primer before. I have some texture and fine lines, also a deep scar from an accident, and this made everything look much more blended and smooth. Much less foundation needed, and the matte surface is very nice to not draw attention to annoying texture around my scars. Doesn't dry out skin either. Although I enjoyed this product as it made my face smoother and allowed me to apply my foundation better, it felt drying on my face. I don't have a lot of oil on my face, thankfully, so possibly that's why it had a drying affect on my face. Regardless, it is a good product. It just isn't for me.

1st time and I'm impressed
As someone with mature, combination skin, I'm always on the lookout for a good primer that doesn't "seep" through and lives my skin looking like an oil slick. I was impressed with this! Went on smooth without that heavy feel, and having acne fighting salicylic acid is a bonus! My makeup went on smooth and stayed. I will continue to use this! I absolutely love this! I live in the hot humid state of Texas and work outdoors. This keeps.my face matte and dry, and my makeup on lock. I highly recommend this primer to all my oily girls.

Matte but not flat
Okay so I've been using this mostly in the mornings before makeup (sometimes mid-day touchups too, not gonna lie), and the first thing I noticed… it actually takes down shine without making my skin look dry or weirdly powdery. Like it blurs things a bit but still looks like skin. That's rare. Texture-wise, it's that smooth, almost silky feel going on. Not heavy. Not greasy. It kind of disappears once you spread it, which I like. I was a little worried about the salicylic acid at first (my skin can be picky), but no irritation so far… which surprised me, honestly. Through the day? It holds up pretty well. I still get a little shine around my nose after hours, but nothing crazy. Way better than going full oil slick by lunchtime like usual. Foundation sits nicer on top too—less sliding around, less patchiness. Only thing… if you overapply, it can feel a tiny bit too "grippy." So yeah, less is more here. Overall, I'd use it again. Especially if you're oily or combo and tired of looking shiny two hours in. I received this product for free from Smashbox for testing and review purposes.
