EKO 50L Horizon Lite Motion Sensor Trash Can Matte Black Stainless Steel

The sensor works very well, and there are manual buttons to open and close in the off chance the sensor doesn't work. They don't work without active batteries which can be a bummer. This is roughly the same size as my old bin, so it will hold the same capacity as a manual can. I found no difference between this and a manual bin in terms of sturdiness. Not bad for an automatic bin. Just gotta make certain your batteries work because there didn't seem to be another option to open without removing the lid.

Capacity is 40-60 liters, decent and ample, not bulky but just right, adding a full pull out tray would have been nice.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an incentivized but honest review. This is the first sensor trash can I have tried, and it is easy to use. Setup is as simple as placing the garbage liner inside, adding batteries, and flipping a switch. No programming is needed, it is already set to open when hovering your hand over the top, and it stays open until the blue lights count down. You can push the buttons on the front to keep it open longer, but I haven't had any need for it. As far as noise, this trash can is very quiet when opening and closing, with no noise otherwise. You can use the EKO brand garbage bags in size F, but regular 13 gallon kitchen bags work as well.

We used to have a step can (step on the pedal to open the lid) but it was constantly banging on our wall when it opened. This trashcan has an automatic open and close, so you just wave your hand and voila - open sesame! It's not super-sensitive which I like because we have a lot of kitchen traffic and I don't want it opening every 3 minutes. It's quiet, holds a lot, and is easy to change the bag. It also has a ring along the inside that you tuck the bag into so you don't see it at all on the exterior. Very sleek. The only downside is this is batteries only (4 AAs) and I would have liked a plug-in option - but battery life seems good so we'll see how long it goes before the first change. Great product!!

It was slightly startling until I got used to it. Now I expect all my trash cans to open up when I am near! Even though the sensor is overactive and opens every time I walk by, the motor and hinges aren't showing any signs of strain. It's been cycling dozens of times and the mechanism still feels as sturdy and smooth as day one. A nice surprise was the included pack of liner bags. While the packaging is in a different language and uses their "Code F" sizing, I tested with my regular 13 gallon drawstring bags and they fit perfectly.

The only quirks I've run into are that sometimes it seems like the sensor reaction time is a tiny bit on the slow side. That said, if you are not moving a million miles an hour like I usually am, it's probably perfectly fine 😂. I really appreciate being sent this product to review, it's a great product.

You need to remove the entire lid to add and change the bag, but it’s simple to do. The top seems a little flimsy but it’s holding up well. It holds 13 gallons of trash which is the standard for kitchen trash cans.

I love that it uses batteries so nothing has to be plugged in. And it’s slim enough to fit in a tight spot in my small kitchen. Also it came with its own trash bags which I thought was a nice touch.

You do need 4 AA batteries in the installation process. The material of the bin is light weight but mighty. It helps keep the smell inside the bin. The stability of the bin is great.

It does have a smaller opening for larger items you toss, and it can get annoying to wait for the lid to open. It’s easy to remove the top to remove your bag, so cleaning is very minimal. The sensor is a bit sensitive, so I wonder how long the batteries will last. Haven’t wanted to replace it with our old one yet, so it’s been good so far. My other one was super heavy and this isn’t so I like how much lighter it is if I need to wash it out.

The motion sensor is incredibly responsive just a quick hand hover and it opens, and it stays open as long as you need it, which is perfect when you're cooking or cleaning. One of my favorite features is that there's no inner removable bin. At first I wasn't sure, but it actually makes changing the bag so much easier. You just put the bag straight in no more trying to sandwich it between the liner and the can. Overall, it’s more convenient, less fussy, and surprisingly a big upgrade in every day use

The stainless steel is fingerproof resistant which I love. It’s easy to keep it clean and setup. All you need is batteries and you’re good to go. It’s silent and you don’t really hear it opening nor closing. It responds quickly. As soon as it senses your close it opens . I also like that it has the option to leave it open until you decide you want to close it in case your have several things you are throwing away at the same time.

The capacity is decent for 2 adults, though it might not be big enough for a larger household. It seems solid! The top and bag ring are a little clunky to take off. 13 gallon trash bags fit well, though the bags that were included with draw strings was strangely too tight... so we used our regular flap ones. Trash got super stinky, and it was fairly well contained when the lid was down... but when the lid lifts up it was quite icky. I'm a little unsure about no liner, seems easier to clean more thoroughly with one. Sensor response is decent, our hallway is small... and my sister tends to set it off just going by.

We’ve been using the trash can for about a week and absolutely love it. It opens quickly and closes quietly. As a replacement for a sensor trash can we thought worked really well, this is even better. It’s exceeded our expectations.

The first day I started using it, my son came over and said,"wow that looks so fancy and useful." Plus it looks really clean and modern. You only need to put two batteries in and it works perfectly. Just wave your hand over and it automatically opens then closes by itself after a few seconds. What I love modt is that it seals very well, so the smell inside stays inside and doesn't come out. Overall this was an excellent top tier product every home should have if they believe in efficiency and cleanliness.
