They don't want reproducing ants going into other states where they may start colonies that could damage agriculture or the ecosystem. Another reason we don't send queens is because they are very difficult to find. Harvester ants can tunnel up to 15 feet straight down when building their colony and may have many thousands of ants per colony." I hope this helps!

The GeoSafari® Day 'N' Night Ant Factory is designed to stay mostly stationary during use, as ants need a calm, stable environment to safely build tunnels and thrive. However, it can be gently moved from one surface to another—just be sure it stays upright and is placed on a level, steady spot after moving. If your grandson enjoys interacting with objects or needs to reposition it occasionally, that's okay—as long as the movements are slow and controlled. You might consider setting it up on a tray or mat to make moving it easier while keeping everything secure. We hope it brings lots of fascination and learning fun his way!

A: Ants will ship separately. Includes a certificate to obtain ants by mail (consumer pays shipping & handling). You should receive your ants within two to three weeks from the time you mail your Ant Certificate (ants can not ship to Hawaii or Oregon). If the weather is extremely cold, there may be a delay in order to protect the ants.
