I’ve tried other brands and other models of rice cookers and this is the best one for consistently perfectly cooked rice and grains. I like that excess condensation from the lid has a drip spout and collector too. Skip the induction model. New technology isn’t always better!

I bought this product to make steel-cut oats. It is excellent for this purpose. Exceeded my expectations.

Very disappointed. This is truly just a rice cooker. I bought this to cook brown rice and steel cut oatmeal, which are foods we eat daily. It just won't cook. Still cut oats without making an enormous mess. Water boils out the top vent and spills over the back. It's a real pain to clean up. We have tried rinsing the steel cut oats repeatedly prior to cooking, and it still makes a huge mess.

Bought to replace previous model. Cooks rice and steel-cut oats (overnight) beautifully.

Makes excellent rice every time. Also tried the New Orleans style Red Beans and Rice recipe which came out excellent. Highly recommend this rice cooker.

Absolutely love our rice cooker! We had been borrowing a friends bigger and higher end model one and decided it was time for one of our own. We went with a smaller size as we don't ever really need more than 5 cups of rice as well as not as high end a model. SO happy with our rice cooker. Perfect rice every time no matter the type of rice or the type of liquid used.

I did a lot of rice cooker research before deciding on this model. I chose this because of the size (5.5 cup model), menu options including long grain rice/quinoa/steel cut oats, supposed ease of cleaning, included steamer basket, and because it’s one of the less expensive Zojirushi micom rice cookers. I’ve had it for a few weeks and used many of the options so far. Rice and quinoa come out perfect (haven’t tried oats yet). Retractable cord is nice to have. Even though there are three pieces to clean every time, it really is very easy to clean. The inner lid pulls off and reattaches easily for cleaning. I’m the type of person who just won’t use a small appliance if it’s too much of a pain to clean, and I don’t mind using and cleaning this several times a week. One thing I didn’t realize before reading the manual: Steaming food in the steamer basket over rice is tricky because you aren’t supposed to open the cooker while it’s cooking rice. So if you want to steam in the basket over rice, everything needs to go in there at the beginning and stay in for the full rice cooking cycle. Figuring out what will work well in that case will take some trial and error. As for cooking time, the rice does take longer than stovetop, but the cooker keeps it warm when it’s done. I don’t mind starting the rice before I get to the rest of my meal prep. It’s nice to know it will be ready and perfectly cooked when I need it.

So far, this is the best rice cooker and steamer I’ve ever owned. Just wish I’d known about it sooner. Cooks a perfect pot of rice every time.

Excellent performance and good looking too

Works well and nonstick coating on the pan insert seems robust. My only complaint is that it's slower than I'm used to. The time-until-done readout seems conservative at the beginning; sometimes it seems to move faster than the clock.

I used to have an old, basic model Zojirushi. It used to work just fine, but after well over 10 years and 3 moves (it may have been dropped at one point or another), it was time for a replacement. A rice cooker is the most used small appliance in our household so I decided to splurge this time around. Glad I did because it is awesome. We've used almost all functions except quinoa and oatmeal. Everything turns out nicely. The retractable power cord is a nice touch. The nonstick insert is very easy to clean. I have never put it in the dishwasher because the nonstick is so good that it is more convenient for me to handwash. The biggest improvement of this model from our old, basic one is the old one had one heating element at the bottom so, of course the bottom layer was burnt to the point that it was not always palatable. Even cooking rice on a stove will do that if you are not careful. This model cooks more evenly and consistently throughout with ease. You don't need experience or expertise to make perfect rice every time with this rice cooker. Highly recommend.

This is the second rice cooker we use. We have no problem with them. Keep it up!

Everything we have cooked has come out perfect! Love that there is a quinoa setting on this updated version. Did not arrive on time.. Target advertised it “will arrive” on specific date. It arrived 3 days late which was a big inconvenience to me.

Perfect rice. Works very well. I gave it 4 stars because the inner pan has to be inserted at a certain angle because the lid doesn't raise as high as our last Zojirushi.
