Q: The specs state this is a 200 watt. However, if the vacuum is listed accurately by Bissell name on Target’s website, it should be a 280 watt not the 200 watt it states it is. Can you please confirm if this is 200 W or 280 W?

submitted by Candyrettich - 9 months ago
  • A: This is actually furfinder, 200W, since the model number is 4137, which state as Similar Models on BISSELL website.

submitted byLocal buyer - 9 months ago
  • A: Since this has already been answered, I will just add that it has the furguard roller head, so it’s like a hybrid of the two models.

submitted byKellee - 4 months ago
  • A: Thanks for your question, Candy! You're right to notice the difference. The version sold at Target (Model 4137) is rated at 200W, while the one listed on BISSELL’s website (Model 4039) has a 280W motor. Both are part of the FurGuard line, but the Target model is a slightly different version with lower wattage.

Q: Can this model be used without the long stick (ie attach vacuum head and attachments direction to the vacuum canister) like a 3 in one ?

submitted by Jeff - 4 months ago
  • A: I think the brand reply to you is incorrect because the photo shows it as a handheld and the description lists it as a 3 in 1 saying you can turn it into a handheld vacuum. i think that is the whole point of using the fur finder attachment on furniture

submitted byAislinn - 4 months ago
  • A: Hi Jeff! The BISSELL PowerClean FurGuard is designed as a cordless stick vacuum, so it can’t be converted into a handheld by removing the stick and attaching the head directly to the canister. It works best in its stick form for floors and comes with tools for above-floor cleaning when attached to the handle.

Q: Does it work on area rugs

submitted by AUNTBANNA40 - 5 months ago
  • A: Yes, the BISSELL PowerClean FurGuard Cordless Pet Vacuum can be used on area rugs. It’s designed for multi-surface cleaning, including hard floors and low-pile rugs, making it great for quick clean-ups and pet hair. For thicker or high-pile rugs, a full-size vacuum may be better.

submitted byBissell Team - 5 months ago

  • A: It does not work on area rugs !!! Works great on wood floor and tile, but stops working on anything other than hard surfaces. Wish I knew this before the purchase! Disappointed to say the least!

submitted byMacKenzie - 2 months ago

Q: Is this really ok for use on hardwood floors ? I just had them installed and the store told me not to use a vacuum with a roller brush.

submitted by Victoria R - 8 months ago
  • A: I use it on my hardwood and have no issues

submitted byMikaela - 7 months ago
  • A: Thanks for checking, Victoria. The PowerClean FurGuard has a self-cleaning brush roll designed to minimize hair wrap and protect surfaces. However, if your flooring installer advised against any roller brushes, we do have other vacuums with a brush on/off switch.

Q: If this Bissel FurGuard has a 280-W motor listed everywhere else it’s sold, why does this description say it’s 200-W? Which is it?

submitted by Jules22 - 9 months ago
  • A: Thanks for your question, Jules! You're absolutely right to notice the difference. The version sold at Target (Model 4137) is rated at 200W, while the one listed on BISSELL’s website (Model 4039) has a 280W motor. Both are part of the FurGuard line, but the Target model is a slightly different version with lower wattage and a more budget-friendly price.

Q: Does it reach all the way to the baseboards, or do you have to use another attachment

submitted by Jimmie - 9 months ago
  • A: Personally I have to use an other attachment because it does not reach all the way. But I still recommend.

submitted byCamille - 8 months ago
  • A: Great question, Jimmie! Yes, the PowerClean FurGuard is designed to clean close to edges, but for tight spots, we recommend using the included crevice tool for the best results.

Q: Is this really a FurGuard? It looks like a FurFinder and seems to have a lower wattage. Plus, both the retail and sale amounts are less than the Bissell website.

submitted by Nick - 9 months ago
  • A: Great question, Nick! It is Target's retail-specific version (Model 4137) with a 200W motor. The BISSELL FurGuard (Model 4039) sold elsewhere features a 280W motor and may offer stronger suction. Both include the FurFinder Tool and self-cleaning brush roll. Hope this helps!

submitted byBissell Team - 9 months ago
    Brand expert

Q: Other than color how does this differ from the one on Bissell's website?

submitted by shay - 9 months ago
  • A: Thanks for your question, Shay! While the PowerClean FurGuard at Target and the one on BISSELL’s website look similar, they’re slightly different models. The Target version (Model 4137) has a 200W motor, while the BISSELL version (Model 4039) features a 280W motor for a bit more suction power. Both are cordless, pet-friendly, and include the same great tools—just with a few performance differences.

Q: Tell me about the charging cord. Is it stored "on-board" the vacuum (attached to it)? Or does it plug into and unplug from the vacuum itself?

submitted by Mama K - 10 days ago
  • A: The PowerClean FurGuard Rechargeable Cordless Pet Vacuum (4137) uses a separate charging cord that plugs into the battery or the wall mount—it is not permanently attached to the vacuum. The battery can be charged on the vacuum using the wall mount or removed and charged independently, which gives you a bit more flexibility for storage and charging.

Q: How do you take off the bottom part of the vacuum and clean it there’s a lot of debris in there. How do I open it to clean out the bottom of it where the roller brush is

submitted by Lida - 1 month ago
  • A: Hi Lida, great question—pet vacuums definitely collect a lot of debris around the brush. For the PowerClean FurGuard 4137, here’s how to get to the bottom/brush area: Make sure the vacuum is turned off and not charging. Turn the floorhead over. Press the brush roll release button and fully open the brush roll latch. Lift the brush roll out and clear hair and debris from both the brush and the nozzle area, then wipe inside with a dry cloth. Reinsert the brush roll and close the latch until it clicks back into place. [bing.com] If anything seems stuck or the latch won’t open/close properly, we recommend reaching out to our Consumer Care team at 1-800-237-7691 so we can walk you through it.

Very disappointed. Battery life is awful. Can only vacuum maybe three rooms on one charge. Does not pick up very well either.

You will be horrified if you have pets

If you have pets, prepare to see hair you didn’t realize was there - and it’s everywhere - I just walk around vacuuming saying “eewwwww”. Love the light. So easy to see where you’ve been. Battery lasts through several passes in a 2-bedroom apartment. My son even likes to vacuum now!

    Worse than you can imagine.

This product doesn’t achieve the product quality promises. It just work for 15 minutes and it turns off out of battery. No matter if it was fully charged.

Hi Pilar — we’re really sorry to hear your PowerClean FurGuard isn’t holding a charge. That definitely isn’t the experience we want for you. Works as expected.

I am very happy with this purchase. Did not know what to expect. I am glad I don’t have to have a cord in the way. I have wooden floors and the suction is very good. My dog sheds a lot and this vacuum does the job. The lights is great. It shows everything that needs to be vacuumed. I empty the canister once or twice a week. The only issue is Battery life. I can vacuum for about 20 minutes and the power drops to 33 percent. I only run it on low. It’s sufficient. Either way I am happy with this purchase. I wanted the Dyson detect but, this one is 600 bucks cheaper. No complaints

    Lives up to the reviews

I bought this vacuum based on the reviews, and it definitely lives up to them. The light is a game changer, you can see the crumbs and the (in my case) cat hair. It is easy to use. The head easily removes to vacuum base boards or to get the cobwebs from the ceiling corners. It’s easy to make it into a handheld to vacuum carpeted stairs. It’s easy to empty, the canister is easy to empty. It’s very intuitive to use. I recently broke my arm and I have had no problems using and emptying this vacuum. It lays almost flat making it easy to vacuum under furniture. The only thing that I had any difficulties with was a rug with a longer shag. I got rid of the rug. It worked great on rugs with a lower nap. I bought this vacuum 9 months ago and it’s still working as good as the day I bought it.

    I want my own!

I bought two of these bissell vacuums for my daughters on sale in December. One cleaned up cat litter without scattering it everywhere and it is perfect for her small apartment. When my second daughter inherited a new wool carpet covered in dog hair, she said the fur finder worked great. And has no complaints for hardwood floor cleaning and appreciates the light feature. So we are sold and faithful customers. Now I want to replace my second hand Dyson with this but it’s $90 more than what I paid less than two months ago.

    Too many design flaws

There are enough small issues with this vacuum that they all add up to make it not worth purchasing. First, the pros: it stands upright when not in use, which is great. It is also very smooth when pushing around and the light on the floor attachment lights up debris nicely. It's pretty quiet as well. Unfortunately, that's where the pros end. By far the biggest issue with this vacuum, for me at least, is the battery life--it's really not good. I do not have a big house and I cannot vacuum it in one go. I will vacuum the upstairs and put it back on charge while I clean the rest of the house, then I continue vacuuming once it's recharged. If you put the vacuum on its lowest setting, the battery does last longer; however, there is very little suction. The second big issue is the way the canister is emptied. You need to partially take it apart to empty it, often getting dust and debris everywhere, which requires you to vacuum it up again and re-empty the canister. Another design flaw is how the vacuum functions in hand-held mode. It's awkward to hold due to its weight being centred towards the front, which makes it feel unbalanced and it's sometimes difficult to maneuver. The other particularly annoying issue is that it has an exhaust fan on its side that perfectly blows dust, debris and pet hair around as you're trying to vacuum it up. For me, this happens on my hardwood stairs. This could be a great vacuum, but it's almost like someone who rarely vacuums designed it and never tested it. I would look elsewhere.

Not impressed a disappointment , bought 2 days ago !

Ok so a charge over night and literally in 15 mins battery is dead !!!!!!! This is a huge disappointment & it was not cheap !!!! Literally did 2 small rooms & it stopped with battery flashing & dead . I will give it another go and if it happens again , back to the store & a full refund !!!!! Plus it has attachments included for car & baseboards that's a nuisance if the battery dies in 15 mins . Very disappointed!

Thanks for sharing your experience, Catherine. This machine has multiple power levels, and higher settings will shorten battery run time, so we recommend using the lower modes when possible for longer cleaning sessions. We also offer replacement batteries you can purchase so you always have a charged backup ready. If you’d like help checking performance or exploring battery options, our team is available at support.bissell.com.

    Older model is better

I hate to say it but I do not like this vacuum. My older pet model Bissell was so much better! This one doesn’t glide on the floors or maneuver turns. Also the handle is giving me a blister on my pointer finger on my right hand. It feels cheaply made. I don’t know how to explain it but it’s not great.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Erin. We’re sorry to hear this model isn’t gliding well and that the handle is uncomfortable—that’s not how it should feel. A Must-Have for Dog Homes

Love this vacuum! As a pet mom to two labs, the Bissell PowerClean FurGuard stick vacuum has been a lifesaver. It’s lightweight, easy to grab and has great suction for fur, crumbs and everyday messes. It actually picks up dog hair without it wrapping around the brush (huge win). Perfect for quick cleanups and keeping up with constant shedding. Highly recommend for pet households!
