This tv stopped working 11 months out the box. Company purchased this for raffle in Nov. 2023. I won it April 2024. March 2024 tv went out and will not come on. Did troubleshooting with customer service. Still will not come on. One year factory is passed. Very disappointing it not lasting a year out the box. This turned me away from these products because this one did not last long. Will never purchase TCL because of this.

The only criticism I have relates to the remote control. The frame is rather low quality. It moves around at the lateral seams when buttons are pushed. I don't think it will come apart but that is what it feels like. Otherwise I am pleased with the television. It was easy to set up and the picture quality is quite nice. For the price, this is a great value.

3rd TCL flat screen I have owned. Great TV's and the ease of setting them up makes you feel stupid! So easy. Wonderful picture, great sound, and setting options. Very nice TV's for the price. They may be a big more than others, but well worth it. It has a nice feature called TCLtv in the selections. Nice option with tons of other channels and news programming, including FOX local networks throughout the country.

The buzzing with brightness turned up is insane. If it’s past 46 it is so audible and loud in the back it’s distracting. Googling shows that this is a known issue. Unfortunately by the time I realized this the box was in the trash. It’s a bedroom tv, so keeping the brightness low is ok, but it still sucks. Stay away.

There are white cloudy spots on the screen. I did some research and this seems to be a common issue. I tried to work with TCL but it was a bit frustrating. I sent TCL a video and they claimed they did not see it. Target customer service rep was able to see them in pictures. In the end, I was able to have Target pick up as a return. I suppose this is on par for the price level but to be obtuse about this issue is annoying.

Good Inexpensive 55" TV

So far it works fine. It has lots of sound settings so you can adjust the sound to your liking. The contrast is not quite what you might get with a TV costing 4 times as much but I never notice if the black areas are truly black while watching movies etc. The automatic volume control works but reduces the music so much that I usually have it set to "off." I like the "Sports" picture setting the best for movies. So far the screen ratio settings works on all of my recordings. The picture quality is good, especially for the price. It says it has a 240 motion rate and I don't notice any lags on fast-moving scenes. It only weighs about 30 pounds so it's easy to move and set up. I bought the 3 year warranty but hopefully I won't need it.

As a budget TV, TCL knocks it out of the park with this model. Picture is great, UI is intuitive (integrated with Google), and the speakers are pretty solid for television speakers. It lacks some clarity in the deep darks, and the vivid colors tend to be a bit too saturated. Admittedly I'm only about a week into having this and still haven't had a ton of time to tweak the advanced settings. Hockey is the only sport I've watched so far, and in sports setting with motion smoothing on, the puck looked distorted - weirdly, disabling motion smoothing made it look immensely better. The bass body in the audio settings works so hard to improve bass that it'll give you a wavy audio sound. You're better off not using that with the TV speakers (hoping that'll improve when hooked up to a bar or SS). Overall, there are some improvements to be had, but for a budget TV, you can't go wrong!
