Q: How does this compare in size and firmness to a lacrosse ball?
submitted by M - 5 years ago
A: Hello M., They MB1 Massage Ball is composed EVA where as a lacrosse ball is composed of dense rubber. We designed the MB1 so it is firm enough to provide great relief, but it is probably not as firm as a solid rubber lacrosse ball. Thanks for asking, TriggerPoint Support Team

Mixed opinion
I had bought my first massage ball from this brand about 5 year ago, and never had a problem. It opened after a few year of using it for my upper back and shoulders and loved it. I decided to replace the old massage ball about 4 months ago and the 2 first layers came off after 1month of using it. So i don't know what to think, it went from a good product down to mediocre product. Is it a manufacturing issue? Ant57.

Great for moderate pressure
This triggerpoint ball is great if you want moderate pressure. It’s listed online as one of their softer massage balls. It’s perfect for rolling out my traps against the wall. If you need something deeper opt for a different massage ball by triggerpoint. There is nothing I dislike. I prefer it way over a tennis ball and lacrosse ball. It

Great for rotator cuff
Not sure I can say much about other body parts. But for the shoulder, bicep tendon and rotator cuff, it is excellent.

Loosen those hips!
Great tool to get into specific areas - especial in the hip joint area - to get extremely tight muscles to release and get pain relief.

Love it!
I've been a Pilates Instructor for 7 years and was a professional dancer. I'm someone who needs deep tissue massage for achy muscles and knots. I love this ball, my clients love it and I definitely recommend it. The size is perfect for digging way deeper and getting into smaller areas such as the TFL. It is amazing for glutes and feet - well everything actually!

Absolutely amazing!
I have chronic migraines from triggers in my neck and this mb1 ball absolutely is amazing. Often times I have to get trigger injections in my neck and my tension from my neck is horrible it has to be rubbed forever and this little ball helped me to where I could massage my neck myself! I love it!

MB1 Massage Ball
Fine massage ball. I find the new material to be too sticky causing clothing to stick to the ball much more than the older cloth covered balls.

Not Worh Your Money
I loved the original ball. I’m not sure why the changed something that worked so well. Really disappointed with this version.

Garbage — broke the first time I used it
I have used the TP Massage balls for years (the red cloth covered ones) and I love them — I have tried a number of other massage balls as well as a lacrosse ball and none get as deep or work as well. When this ball came out I was skeptical because it didn’t look like it would be hard enough, but I decided to try it because I have always been pleased with the products I’ve gotten from this company. What a waste of money — the first time I tried to roll out my piriformis the foam gave way leaving a very misshapen and useless ball. I don’t know why the company discontinued a ball that worked so well for this useless product. Unfortunately, I’m back to hunting for a massage ball that works. Out of all the massage balls I’ve tried in the last 15 years, this ball is hands down the absolute worst. Save your money and look elsewhere.

This massage ball does exactly what it's made to do! I use it for my shoulders and lower back to help release the knots and I'm just amazed how much better I feel after each use. I love this product!

Not as good as original cloth version
I have owned the original kit with the cloth massage balls and footballer however after the balls disappeared at the gym I had to buy this new foam version. It died after a month as the foam softens it pulls away from the solid internal core. The solid core now rattles inside, so if you can get the cloth version definitely do that.

Portable & effective
I bought this for use on my neck and shoulder blades. It is something I can use while driving and sitting at lights to effectively release my neck and deep shoulder pain.
