Izabella, unfortunately this clock was not design for the backlight to stay on continuously. The backlight's main purpose is provide a momentary amount of light for you to see the display for a short time. Izabella, because the backlight uses a lot of power, it would drain the batteries very quickly if it were on all the time. However, you can adjust the display brightness on this clock by choosing one of the 5 levels of display brightness which are: DIM, LIGHT, MEDIUM, BRIGHT and BRIGHTEST. Izabella, please note that the display will automatically dim between the hours of 7pm to 7am. This is intended to be softer on the eyes at night. A: All I did was pressed the second alarm and held the button and & started flashing I think & then used the H & M to change it to preferred time. I think whichever alarm button you hold onto for a couple secs. For it to start flashing & thats how you set it.

However, to conserve battery life, the display will not be visible while the clock is operating on battery backup. Also, please note that when running on battery backup, the clock may gain or lose a few minutes per hour, which could require resetting the time once power is restored. To answer your question, the Westclox Model 71061 alarm clock does automatically shut off after a certain period if no one presses the off button. By default, the alarm will sound for 30 minutes before shutting off on its own. However, this duration can be adjusted between 1 to 59 minutes based on your preference. To change the alarm duration, simply hold the MINUTE button for 5 seconds until the current duration appears on the display. Then press the MINUTE button to adjust the time. Yes, the alarm volume can be adjusted on this clock by simply pressing either the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button once after the desired alarm settings are set. Once they are set- Press the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button once. The alarm display will show HI or LO. Then use the H or M buttons to select the desired Hi or Lo Alarm Volume Shaker Intensity. Afterwards, press either the ALARM I or ALARM 2 button once to SAVE and EXIT. choffman12, that is all you need to do to adjust the alarm volume on this clock. TS, in order for you to get the bed shaker to work you would first need to plug the bed shaker cord into the SHAKER port on the back of the clock. Then you would place the Bed Shaker underneath your pillow in order for the alarm to shake your pillow to get you up. TS, if you have already have done these steps but the bed shaker is still not responding then trying resetting your clock to see if that will resolve the issue. TS, to reset your clock please proceed by doing the following: 1- Unplug the clock from the electrical outlet. 2- Remove any backup batteries (if installed) for one minute. 3- Press the snooze button 2-3 times (This will drain any residual electricity) 4- Wait 10 seconds, then plug the clock back into the outlet. TS. the clock then should start to perform normally after the resetting process is complete. TS, you can also reinstall the backup batteries back into the battery compartment at this point as well. Once plugged in, you would plug the other end of the power cord into a USB outlet or electrical outlet using the included adapter. PLESE NOTE: This clock can NOT operate on batteries only. The battery is for backup purposes only. The main purpose of the feature is to maintain the time and the alarm settings during a power outage.
