Izabella, unfortunately this clock was not design for the backlight to stay on continuously. The backlight's main purpose is provide a momentary amount of light for you to see the display for a short time. Izabella, because the backlight uses a lot of power, it would drain the batteries very quickly if it were on all the time. However, you can adjust the display brightness on this clock by choosing one of the 5 levels of display brightness which are: DIM, LIGHT, MEDIUM, BRIGHT and BRIGHTEST. Izabella, please note that the display will automatically dim between the hours of 7pm to 7am. This is intended to be softer on the eyes at night. A: To change the hour, hold down the H until the time flashes. Click the H button until you reach your desired time. Same with the M button. Hope this helps!

A: All I did was pressed the second alarm and held the button and & started flashing I think & then used the H & M to change it to preferred time. I think whichever alarm button you hold onto for a couple secs. For it to start flashing & thats how you set it.

The clock is designed to be used with the included power adapter, and we recommend keeping it plugged in during regular use. The battery backup is optional and mainly serves as a safeguard in case of a power outage. During a power failure, the backup battery will keep the internal time and alarm settings running. However, to conserve battery life, the display will not be visible while the clock is operating on battery backup. Also, please note that when running on battery backup, the clock may gain or lose a few minutes per hour, which could require resetting the time once power is restored. To answer your question, the Westclox Model 71061 alarm clock does automatically shut off after a certain period if no one presses the off button. By default, the alarm will sound for 30 minutes before shutting off on its own. However, this duration can be adjusted between 1 to 59 minutes based on your preference. To change the alarm duration, simply hold the MINUTE button for 5 seconds until the current duration appears on the display. Then press the MINUTE button to adjust the time.
